UK retailers are reporting a dramatic increase in 3DS sales in the run up to Christmas, reports MCV.
Sources on the High Street have told the trade publication that the Metallic Red 3DS is all but sold out, whilst other colours are in short supply.
The uptick in sales follows the launch of two new Mario titles: Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7. Each title has also been heavily promoted on TV.
“We have high expectations for the final few weeks before Christmas,” said GAME Group’s category manager for Nintendo Iain Johnson.
With the 3DS now readily available for around £120 it’s no wonder the system has strong sales momentum as Christmas approaches.
