SouthPeak Games has announced the May 2010 European release of PS3 exclusive 3D Dot Game Heroes from Silicon Studio.

Taking inspiration from classic role-playing games released on early video game consoles, 3D Dot Game Heroes sees players transported back to the golden age of 8-bit gaming (only now in glorious 3D), in which they must quest through the kingdom of Dotnia, slaying monsters and seeking treasure in dungeons.

The story-based quest sees players set out to gain the power of the six sages and the six orbs that protected the kingdom of Dotnia, which now stands on the verge of destruction.

“I am delighted to be working with Atlus to publish 3D Dot Game Heroes and we have very high expectations for this exciting and unique title,” said Jonathan Hales, managing director EMEAA, SouthPeak Games. “We’ve been following the progress of the game since it was announced in Japan and are thrilled to have secured the title for Europe.”

With pixels as building blocks, players have almost endless possibilities to create custom characters with whom to explore Dotnia. Freely edit the look of your character, or design one completely from scratch, and then trade designs with friends via a compatible USB storage device.
