343 Industries has posted the latest end-of-June update all on the subject of bringing Halo: Reach and, more specifically Forge and Theatre modes to the Halo: The Master Chief Collection when Halo: Reach is added later this year.

The first part of the hefty update on the Halo Waypoint blog mentions that the team will be doing a one time copy of all maps and gametypes currently uploaded to the series' file share system from all previous versions of the game on Xbox 360. So that's any map or mode you may have uploaded in the original versions of Halo 3, Reach and 4 on Xbox 360 and assigned to your gamertag will finally be able to be downloaded into the updated Forge mode in Halo: The Master Chief Collection on Xbox One. The team reccomends you load these games either on your Xbox 360 if you still have it, or via Xbox One Backwards Compatibility to ensure these files are uploaded and ready. Then, when the update to Halo: The Master Chief Collection drops, you should be able to download these files.

However, an interview within the same update with Halo: The Master Chief Collection's PC lead producer does reveal that the Theatre and Forge modes for the PC will take a little longer and come a little later, as they want to tailor the experience for those two features for PC: 'We’re investigating what the best solution is for both Forge and Theater on PC. We know that to create a true PC first experience for both where it’s full mouse and keyboard support is an undetermined amount of work at this point,' he said.

'And we haven’t done a deep enough dive to determine how much work it truly is due to the priority of getting the main game up and ready. What we suspect, is it’s a very lengthy amount of time. So with that in mind we have to go and figure out what we think is going to be the best experience for PC players that also gets it into PC players hands as soon as possible so that we can empower the community to create the content they want to.'

In the meantime, 343 Industries has released some new 4K footage of one of Halo: Reach's missions – entitled Tip of the Spear – which you can find embedded below. Halo Reach for Halo: The Master Chief Collection is reportedly set to launch along with the staggered PC release later this year.
