300,000 players have joined the new free-to-play MMO Age of Conan: Unchained, Funcom has confirmed.

The firm said server activity has quadrupled since the free-to-play launch, while game revenue has doubled.

Describing the success of the MMO, game director Craig Morrison said: “We have been working hard to show that we are one of the best, and most unique, MMO experiences on the market. Our focus now is to deliver even more content and new experiences to players, starting with the movie tie-in Adventure Pack that is launching in the near future!”

Funcom shelved the idea of bringing its MMO to console last May, stating it was more complicated than anyone had accounted for.
