One of the most gratifying feelings in NBA 2K, is dunking. Be it on a fast break or going over a defender, the emphatic finishes one can deliver are outrageously entertaining and ignite the passion and hype from within.
NBA 2K23 didn’t shy away from bringing that to life once more in their latest installment. And upon releasing a vast variety of player ratings yesterday, NBA 2K23 also decided to showcase its Top 5 dunkers.
This year’s Top 5 includes some of the brightest young stars and also a former two-time NBA Dunk Contest Champion as well. Here’s the full list:

Top 5 dunkers in NBA 2K23
Right off the bat, we have Ja Morant holding the best dunker status in the game, and following last season in particular, that’s fully justified.
Zion Williamson being listed with the same rating is a little of surprise and should be lower. Though Williamson certainly has unreal bounce and dunk capabilities, Morant solidified himself as the best dunker in the game last season, pulling off theatrics that only a man by the name of Vince Carter could have emulated.
With that said, let’s review the Top 5 Dunkers in NBA 2K23.
1. Ja Morant (Memphis Grizzlies) – 97 Dunk Rating
If you watched any of the Grizzlies highlights last season, be it from the regular season or the playoffs, you probably so one if not two of Ja Morant’s insane dunks he pulled off. His athleticism, bounce, length, and hang-time are second to none when it comes to dunking and he earned that 97 rating fair and square.
2. Zion Williamson (New Orleans Pelicans) – 97 Dunk Rating
As stated previously, this was a generous rating to give someone who missed the entire 2021-22 season to a fractured right foot. In all fairness, Williamson can pull off some incredible dunks, and we’ve seen them before. But a 97 rating, the same one Morant received, was too high for NBA 2K23. A 95 or 96 would have been more fitting.
3. Anthony Edwards (Minnesota Timberwolves) – 95 Dunk Rating
Anthony Edwards illustrated what kind of menace he can be as a dunker last season. The kid can simply glide through mid-air with ease and brings tremendous athleticism. Power and strength are two big parts of Edwards’ dunking game and expect to be able to unleash that in full in NBA 2K23.
4. Zach LaVine (Chicago Bulls) – 95 Dunk Rating
The two-time Dunk Content Winner himself is none other than Zach LaVine and yes, he’s still one of the coldest dunk specialists in the game. LaVine won’t really bring a ton of flash or fanciness to his dunking. But his ability to takeoff and elevate, is truly remarkable. The 95 dunk rating was well-deserved in NBA 2K23.
5. Aaron Gordon (Denver Nuggets) – 95 Dunk Rating
If you’re going to have Zach Lavine in the Top 5, you might as well have his fiercest challenger and one of the best Dunk Contest runner-ups on the list, in Aaron Gordon. Despite being as strong and big as he is, the smoothness and precise execution Gordon delivers with his dunks, is impeccable. And NBA 2K23 blessed him with a 95 dunk rating as a result.
