The Longbow is one of the stronger dedicated-range weapons in Throne and Liberty. When combined with the Staff, players can excel at a very powerful dedicated ranged damage dealer.  it is perhaps the second-best pure damage-dealing weapon combo, and ranks high on our Throne and Liberty Weapon Tier List. If you want to master our range DPS, especially for PvE Dungeons, then you should consider a longbow and bow build to master the art of max range, crit striking and damage buffs.

Please note this guide is intended for global launch based on beta information. This is not for the Korean version entering its new expansion launch.

Throne and Liberty Longbow and Staff build

For the most part, players will want to use a Longbow and Staff. The types of skills you want to run on both weapons are as follows:

SkillWeaponDescription
Chain LightningStaffLightning Skill that deals 450% + 104 damage. Deals 2% more damage for each burning stack on the target. The spell can chain to other targets within 5 meters of the initial target, chaining up to 3 times if the target is wet. Damage decreased by 20% for each chain hit.
Decisive SnipingLongbowDeals 740% Base Damage + 345. Increases ranged critical hit by 450 in proportion to the target’s remaining health. On hit, increases all crit hit by 200 for 3s. Can be reused up to two times on Critical Hit.
Ensnaring ArrowLongbowDeals 130% of Base Damage, with an 80% chance to Bind the target for 6.7 seconds.
Inferno WaveStaffFire skill that deals damage to 280% base damage + 100 to all enemies hit within 3m of the target. Deals bonus damage equal to 10% for each burning stack on the target. Also has a 70% chance to apply burning itself. If the spell is a heavy attack, you will add two stacks of burning to the target.
Nature’s BlessingLongbowCreates a radius of 16m that increases Health Regen by 31950 and Mana Regen by 1470 for you and your party members. It also removes one Weakened effect on allies in the area when it is created.
Serial Fire BombsStaffFire Skill that deals 150% of base damage + 140 that inflicts Burning with an 80% chance to also apply to every enemy in a 3-meter radius. Spell crits apply three stacks of burning. Burning debuff lasts for 12 seconds and deals 3.7% of base damage + 9 per stack and tick on the target. Stacks up to ten times.
StrafingLongbowAttack 4 times. Each attack deals 130% base damage + 36. If you land more than 2 Critical Hits, you can use the skill 2 more times. Additional hits consume half the mana cost.
Zephyr’s NockLongbowDeals 520% base dmg +169. Damage 7% increase per 1 meter distance to the target. Deals further 50% damage to Bound, sleeping or stunned enemies.

These weapons are core to your playstyle for maximising the most crit chance, heavy attack chance, and more.

Your rotation can look like the following:

  • Deadly Marker (if you use it for the crit chance buss to you and your party)
  • Firebomb
  • Inferno Wave
  • Chain Lightning
  • Ensanriing Arrow
  • Zephyr
  • Strafing
  • Sniping
  • Meteor (if you run it and can still land it against a bound target)

Again, the rotation depends on whether you land your crit that allows you to cast more Strafing and Decisive Sniping. Remember to maintain your DoT so you follow up Inferno Wave and Chain Lightning can deal even more damage.

Also, don’t forget to use Nature’s Blessing for mana regen. You can even take the staff spell, Inner Peace if you find your mana being an issue.

Longbos Staff Build Passives

Passives are an important part of your playstyle, as they are what allow you to benefit from both weapons the most. These come with a mixture of range, mana restoration, burning, and other stationary ranged DPS effects that work well with each other. In terms of prior, we recommend passive upgrading Ascetiscism, Forbidden Sanctuary, and Sniper’s Stance early on. The rest you can prio as you prefer.

PassiveWeaponDescription
AsceticismStaffMana regen increased by 56. Remaining still for 3 seconds will increase mana regen by a further 112. It also increases Heavy Atk by 100 for all attack types. It lasts for 2 seconds after you move and stays with a mobility spell.
Flame CondensationStaffIncreases burning damage by 60%. If used on a target that you’ve burned Heavy Attack chance is increased by 10 per burning stack.
Forbidden SanctuaryStaffMana cost efficiency decreases by 15% and Skill Damage boosts by 140.
Mana AmpStaffMax Health increased by 1200 and max mana by 2800.
Mana ball EruptionStaffWhen basic attacking with a staff or wand, you have a chance to apply another stack of burning to the target.
Rapidfire StanceLongbowStaying in the same place without moving for 2s increases attack speed by 16%, and all hit chances by 100. The effect remains in effect for 2 seconds after moving. It remains in effect even with using a mobility skill.
Roxies ArrowheadLongbowAttacking with longbows or crossbows has a 15% chance to shoot an additional arrow at the target dealing 125% of base damage. Shooting into the wind increases the chance by a small amount.
Sniper’s SenseLongbowIncreases crit by 21, and crit damage by 0.4% per 1 meter distance to the target.
Steady AimLongbowAttacks against Bound targets increase your critical hit by 435.

Stats and Gear

When levelling your character and getting gear, you ideally want your attributes to look something like this.

  • Strength:20
  • Dexterity:50
  • Wisdom: 40
  • Perception: 35

Strength is defensive stats. You’ll avoid placing points in this stat, but you’ll passively get some via gear. Considering you’re a very safe DPS playstyle, you likely won’t get hit by many things unless its group-wide damage It should be enough to help your through content. You also get bonus HP via the staff passives so it is not too bad either.

Dexterity increases your DPS, which is what you want with a pure DPS build.

Wisdom affects cooldown reduction and your mana pool. Considering you are taking big-hitting spells, cooldown reduction and lots of mana are extremely important.

Perception: Grants you hit rating. You want about 35 to ensure both your magical and ranged hit are up to speed to hit all enemies in T1 and potentially T2 content.

Weapons and Gear

In terms of Gear, there are a few options:

  • Longbows
    • Moonlightnowstring – T2 bow for increased attack speed via Nature’s Blessing.
    • Karnix’s Hell Bow – Gives you 9% more range for you and your party members in 16 meters.
    • Toublek’s Strafing Bow: Gives you 75% more base damage when you critical hit an enemy below 25%.

The bows depend on what content you’re up to. Hellbow is a good option for your pure ranged scaling modifiers. The Toublek’s bow is also handy for players wanting to execute bosses when pushing content. Both are fine its more to do with your role in the raid group and playstyle choices.

  • Staff
    • Toublek’s Thunderous Staff – Grants bonus crit hit by 30, per 1 meter distance between you nd your target.

Toublek’s is fantastic for the second weapon options as it synergizes with the Hell Bow, alongside the longbow passive for more damage at range. The bonus cit laos helps the execute window on the Toublek’s Bow too. So, it’s a solid option for longbow staff builds in Throne and Liberty.

As for your gear, you want to can use the set Ghost Wolf alter ego for secondary weapon attacks. It helps for the manaball eruption for passive burning stacks. The Reaper set is also strong for the critical strike damage and the attack speed bonuses you can get from T1 content. The Reaper set is likely the best set to grab for most people’s playstyles. You’ll easily get range, crit, Dex and Perception your gear, which are your two most ideal stats. Go Reaper for the most synergy with your T1 gearing.

If you can get a two-set going for the World Tree set, that will also help you with your mana pool. It also helps improve Wisdom to further buff your staff, CDR and mana.

This concludes the absolute basics of running a Longbow Staff build in Throne and Liberty. We wish you the best of luck in progressing this build.
