  • Hardener can be found in munitions and resource boxes in the Vespers region.

Crafting is an essential part of The First Descendant. One resource you’ll come across is the Hardener, a basic item that lets you create character research materials. Getting more of this item is essential if you want to experiment with different builds against Void Intercept bosses. If you’ve had a hard time finding these, here’s where you can get this item.

Where can you find Hardener?

You can get this resource from munitions and resource boxes scattered around the Vespers region. You can enter this region early on simply by playing the campaign. You’ll be clearing missions often here if you want to unlock Freyna so you’re bound to find munitions around. These cylinders can be interacted with to earn this resource. You can use your Ecive scanner to highlight them.

Don’t worry if another player opens them as you can also pick up these items. If you want to farm a good amount of this resource, sprint across the map and interact with every munitions cylinder you can find. Use your grappling hook to increase your speed further.

What is Hardener used for?

A Hardener is used to create materials for unlocking characters. Don’t worry about the big numbers below as every box you find will drop over a hundred of this resource. Opening eight boxes should let you work towards Ultimate variants of characters. Here are some examples of characters and their requirements:

  • Ajax’s Stabilizer (x386)
  • Viessa’s Spiral Catalyst (x386)
  • Ultimate Gley Enhanced Cells (x869)
  • Ultimate Bunny Stabilizer (x869)
  • Valby Catalyst (x386)
  • Yujin Catalyst (x386)
