Looking for love and wondering how to get married in Starfield? With a variety of companions joining you across your journey through the Settled Systems, you might have started developing a relationship with one of them and be wondering how you can make that character your Starfield spouse. We’re here to tell you exactly how to go about doing it.

How do you get married in Starfield?
To get married in Starfield, you have to progress your relationship with a specific companion far enough, as well as complete two character specific quests. This can be a fairly lengthy process, so we’re going to go through each step in the process to help make it as easy as possible for you to do it with your own companion of choice.
To begin, you need to make sure that your chosen companion is your active follower. This is because you will develop your affinity with them through interacting with them and performing certain actions during your adventures. Make sure you have an idea of what your companion likes and dislikes, and act accordingly. Our Starfield romance guide goes into more detail, but essentially as long as you avoid committing crimes, you should be fine.
Having said that, choosing the right actions and dialogue options is key. Your companion will react to many of the things you do, and you want them to react positively. Helping people out and making morally correct decisions will help this, as well as acting in a certain way with your companions. Make jokes with Barrett, express your interest in exploration with Sarah, etc. Over time, your companion will also start to share secrets with you, which is a good sign that your relationship is progressing well.
Eventually, you’ll start getting the [FLIRT] dialogue option. Select the flirt option every time it comes up to continue progressing your relationship with your companion. Eventually, once your relationship has progressed enough, you’ll be given a companion-specific relationship mission. Once you complete this quest, you’ll be able to choose the [ROMANCE] option in dialogue, which you should select. If you get this option with a companion you don’t want to marry, you can simply choose the [FRIENDSHIP] option instead.
Continue with the previous steps until you unlock the [COMMITMENT] dialogue option. This will trigger a second and final mission, where you must complete a certain objective for your companion. Once you finish this quest, you’ll be able to finalise your commitment to your companion, have your wedding ceremony, and get yourself an achievement along the way.
You can also divorce your spouse even more easily by talking to them and asking them how they feel about your relationship. From here, you can select the [END COMMITMENT] dialogue option, and this will end the relationship.
Who can you marry in Starfield?
There are four romance options that you are able to get married to in Starfield. Starfield’s romance options are Sarah Morgan, Sam Coe, Barrett, and Andreja. Unfortunately, while there are other characters who you are able to bring along with you as companions, there are no other NPCs that you can currently romance in the game. You can marry any of these companions regardless of your in-game gender.
Are there any benefits to getting married in Starfield?
The biggest benefit to getting married in Starfield is the increase to the XP boost received when sleeping. Typically, sleeping provides a 10% XP boost for 24 hours, but sleeping when married provides a larger 15% boost to XP gains.
That’s all you need to know about how to get married in Starfield. Once you’ve tied the knot, if you’re looking to take your new spouse on a virtual honeymoon, then you’ll want to know the Starfield best ship parts to make a vessel fit for the occasion. And if you’re looking to get on some quests, we would suggest taking on the Starfield Operation Starseed quest or the Starfield Delivering Devils quest.
