- While it isn’t stated, based on a few clues, we estimate that Kay Vess is around 20-25 years old during the events in Star Wars Outlaws.
Kay Vess is a brand new Star Wars character and the player protagonist in Outlaws. Not much is known about the elusive rogue, though plenty can be inferred outright. Other bits and pieces of lore are drip-fed to us through the game’s storyline. With that said, even some basic info is generally a mystery, including the character’s age. So let’s try to piece that puzzle together and find out how old is Kay during the game’s events.
What is Kay Vess’ age?
Though it’s not directly stated, we can surmise that Kay is in her twenties, likely between 20 and 25. Besides outward appearances, a few other hints helped us come to this conclusion. For one, the events that kick off the game’s story happen in 3 ABY (After the Battle of Yavin). The first mentions of Cantonica are from around 33 BBY (Before the Battle of Yavin), placing it during the Republic era and before the Clone Wars (22-19 BBY).
Kay was born and raised on Cantonica, on the outskirts of Canto Bight. Her mother, Riko Vess, taught her how to pickpocket from an early age.
During the early childhood cutscene, we see Kay accosted by two security officers wearing uniforms that suggest the post-Republic period. She seems to be around 9-12 years old during that flashback. With that in mind, we can surmise that she was born during or shortly after the Clone Wars, placing her age in the 20-25 range when the game starts.
Kay was born and raised on Cantonica, on the outskirts of Canto Bight. Her mother, Riko Vess, taught her how to pickpocket from an early age, which seems to run in the family. She also provided an introduction to other small-time criminals, including the Broken Hoof bar owner, Bram Shano. He later provided room and shelter to Kay, before she set out on her own.
However, Nix is probably the most important part of Kay’s life. The cute merqaal is her constant companion and partner in crime, able to help her by distracting enemies, pickpocketing, pushing buttons, and generally being good company. In-game commentary suggests that Nix has been with Kay since childhood, explaining the pair’s strong mutual bond.
