In Star Wars Outlaws, Kay’s blaster is a versatile weapon that comes with several options for modules, configurations, and upgrades. When you can’t talk or sneak your way out of a situation, the next course is to start blasting your way out. With different modes of use, the blaster can be tailored to deal with any problem that requires shooting, including inanimate objects to clear a way to a secret area. So let’s take a look at all the available options when it comes to blaster modules, configurations, and upgrades.

All Plasma blaster configurations and upgrades

Plasma is the best all-rounder option that you start the game with. The majority of enemies you’ll be fighting will be susceptible to Plasma fire. It fires quickly and doesn’t overheat as quickly as other modules, especially with a couple of cooling upgrades. Plasma comes in three possible configurations:

  • Light
  • Rapid
  • Heavy

Each one slightly modifies the way the gun fires, with Light being the default. Rapid boasts a higher rate of fire, as the name implies. Meanwhile, Heavy packs a more serious punch, dealing more damage and thus needing fewer hits to down an enemy. Check out all the upgrades and costs for each:

All Ion blaster configurations and upgrades

The Ion module is tailor-made to deal with droids and enemies protected by shields. It short-circuits them, thus dealing higher damage. In certain areas, it can also be used to power objects by blasting a ray at them. It comes in two configurations:

  • Burst
  • Surge

The main difference between the two configurations is in their focus. Burst has a longer range while hitting a single target. Meanwhile, Surge has a shorter range but fires an AoE blast. Let’s go through all upgrades and costs for both:

All Power blaster configurations and upgrades

The Power module is arguably the strongest of the group, which makes it the best one to deal with heavy and armoured enemies, like Stormtroopers, Death Troopers, and Gamorreans. Moreover, this module can be used to blast apart barriers to access new areas on the map. You need to charge up the shot before firing and there are three possible configurations:

  • Bolt
  • Blast
  • Pulse

Each configuration performs slightly differently. Bolt needs to charge up before being able to fire for a single-target hit. Meanwhile, Blast fires a heavy plasma bolt that explodes for AoE blast damage. Lastly, Pulse works similar to Bolt, except that the longer you charge it up, the more damage it deals. How to upgrade blaster in Star Wars Outlaws

You can upgrade your blaster by interacting with the workbench on the Trailblazer, your spaceship. After unlocking each module and configuration, they will become available on the workbench. Provided you have the materials, you just need to click the option you want to upgrade.

Nearly all upgrade materials will be available while playing through the game. However, a few need to be scoured through syndicate merchants. For that reason, make sure you’re in good standing with the four syndicates, so that you can buy the resources you need.
