While standard artifacts will serve you relatively well for a good chunk of Stalker 2, there are unique legendary items peppered across the Zone that provide substantially better buffs. Among them is the Weird Water artifact, an altered item that’s the stuff of legend among Stalkers. Unlike most other artifacts, it doesn’t spawn at random in a certain type of anomaly. Instead, it’s found in a very specific location, at an equally specific time of day. In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to get the Weird Water artifact in Stalker 2.
Where to find the Weird Water artifact
To get the Weird Water artifact, you’ll need to explore at night the Wandering Light anomalous area in the northeast of the Zaton region in the east of the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone. It’s northeast of the Sultansk camp, which is the best place to set out from. Aim to get just outside the anomaly before 22.00 then make a save, which you can reload if the Weird Water fails to spawn the first time around.
Once 22.00 hits, several green light orbs will spawn. The Weird Water artifact won’t be detected by your detector and as soon as you enter the field, you’ll be bathed in darkness. Ghost mutants will also chase you around the field. You can avoid them by continuously running or by shooting them.
Run in and inspect the floor below and near every orb until you come across a bottle – the Weird Water. In our experience, it tends to spawn near the rocks at the center of the anomaly, but we’ve seen it pop up all across the anomaly for other players. If it doesn’t show up, reload and retry. It took us two tries to find it. You can also increase the gamma settings in the options menu to brighten up the area a little, which makes finding the white interact dot a lot easier.
Weird Water stats
The precise benefits conferred by the Weird Water artifact are a mystery and we only have the item description to go on, which reads: ‘You can’t drink this stuff, but strap it to your belt, and radiation won’t bother you as much. It makes moving around a bit smoother too, although you might go a little weak in the knees from time to time.’
It provides a high level of radiation protection, allowing you to equip it alongside other artifacts that inflict radiation damage and negate it entirely. Alongside, it increases your carry weight by a massive 40 kg, trumping any other artifact that boosts carry capacity. It’s perfect for loot runs and hauling back weapons to sell at traders. The only negative is that you’ll occasionally have to deal with the screen swaying, much like the drunken effect you get when you chug Cossacks Vodka or beer.
