Does Stalker 2 have multiplayer, co-op, and PvP? Answered

The wastelands of post-apocalyptic Eastern Europe are a lonesome place if we disregard all the murderous folk and mutants. With a strong emphasis on exploration and survival, Stalker 2: Heart of Chornbyl sets players on a lonesome path. At least in the beginning. So is Stalker 2 playable in multiplayer and co-op and what are the future prospects? Here’s everything that we know so far.

Will Stalker 2 have multiplayer?

Multiplayer is a planned feature for Stalker 2, but it isn’t a part of the game at launch. The game was released as a strictly single-player experience. However, the devs have stated on the official site that “Multiplayer mode is coming soon after the release date as a free update for the game.” That is definitely something to look forward to, though the exact nature of the game’s multiplayer is still uncertain. That goes as well to the concern of how multiplayer translates to the campaign, but we’re looking forward to it either way.

Is there going to be co-op in Stalker 2?

Unfortunately, co-op is unlikely going to be a part of Stalker 2, at least for the campaign mode. The wastelands are a lonely place and the devs have stated that they plan to keep it that way. While we’re sure players will find a way to play both together and against each other, outright co-op mode seems to be off the table. However, with the game launching with official mod support, we can hope that a co-op mod might appear at some point.

Will there be PVP?

Since there won’t be co-op, we can surmise that PVP will surely be in Stalker 2 multiplayer. Imagine all the Stalkers populating The Zone, scavenging and battling each other for supplies. That’s going to lead to conflicts, which in turn means player-versus-player engagements. The nature of this remains to be seen, but we can be sure that the game’s world will become hotly contested once the multiplayer update drops.
