Up until very recently, the Twilight Masquerade expansion for Pokémon TCG was just a date. Now though, we’ve begun to see the first embers of a card set list and spoilers, all thanks to the recent announcement.

We won’t see a Twilight Masquerade release date until after the Temporal Forces set is out there, however there’s enough information for us to begin pondering about the next set. The Teal Mask provides much of the inspiration for this set, from everything to the ‘Mon themselves to the thematics of the set. Masked Pokémon expectedly feature as part of this masquerade, and Ogerpon is the main star so far.

Pokémon TCG Twilight Masquerade card list so far

Ogerpon, who has yet to debut in the Pokémon TCG, is the card at the center of attention so far. There are four mask variants, each sporting a different type and moveset. We’ve also heard news that Okidogi, Fezandipiti, and Munkidori will feature for the first time too.

It’s interesting to see how the Teal Mask allows for more Pokémon card variants to be introduced in-game, when before there was quite a limited route of options for variance in cards.

Pokémon TCG Twilight Masquerade spoilers

So far, we’ve had plenty of cards revealed to us. The first five cards happened to be of Ogerpon, or variants of Ogerpon, and the sixth is a card that can directly affect them all. The Ogre’s Mask allows you to switch out any ex variant Ogerpons for any counterparts, allowing you to tactically build buffs and energy to a card while baiting your opponent.

The art style shown off in the spoilers so far isn’t close to what we’re seeing on some of the most expensive Temporal Forces cards, though they’re still attractive cards. It’s going to be exciting to see some of the more artistic variations when they release later on in May.

How many cards are there in the Twilight Masquerade expansion?

So far, there’s a 160 cards expected to feature in the Twilight Masquerade expansion. This is going to be composed of new cards (Ogerpon ex variants etc) alongside reissuing cards from the Paldean Fates and other header sets. There’s also six ACE SPEC cards, seven Pokémon ex and seven Tera Pokémon ex cards, alongside 21 Special Illustration Rare cards.

Should you get Twilight Masquerade cards?

It looks as though if you’re wanting to keep up with the current Pokémon TCG Standard Rotation, you’re going to need to invest in Twilight Masquerade and Temporal Forces. I say this simply because of the re-introduction of ACE SPEC cards, which look as though they’re becoming increasingly important.
