Completing an alley-oop is one of the most beautiful plays you can pull in NBA 2K25. Throwing down a rim-rocking dunk after a lob pass is poetry in motion, and this process is quite simple. To pull it off, you need a decent passer, an open lane, and a great dunker. In this guide, we will explain how to throw and convert an alley-oop pass in the game.
How to finish alley-oop in NBA 2K25
Alley-oop is a crowd-hyping move your fans will appreciate in MyCareer. You can pull this move off in any game mode, from Blacktop to Quick Play, and it’s quite simple. The most important thing about this play is the positioning of the players. To make sure it goes smoothly, you need to have a dunker near the hoop who’s ready to throw down a big slam.
To pull an alley-oop in NBA 2K25, you need to use your double-tap Triangle (PlayStation) or Y (Xbox). At the same time, you need to point to the receiver using the left analog stick. Once the ball is in the air, you will need to press Square or X to finish off the play and dunk the ball. Considering that alley-oops are high-percentage shots, you will easily convert most of them.
The player receiving the lob pass needs to have high a Dunk and Vertical rating. Furthermore, the receiver needs to have a few inches of space to take off and grab the ball. You will have to practice the timing and positioning with alley-oops, as these are most important. If the receiver is not in a good position, you will only throw a lob pass.
To increaase the frequency of alley-oop dunks, you can use pick-and-roll plays or send dunkers to cut to the rim.
If you’d like to practice alley-oops with NBA teams in 2K25, here are some of our suggestions:

How to do self alley-oop in NBA 2K25
To spice things up even more, you can throw yourself an alley-oop and finish it with a monster slam. This play is much simpler, as it only requires one player. However, positioning is, once again, very important, and you’ll have to practice this play before pulling it off in a match. For this move, you need a high-flying dunker.
To pull off a self alley-oop, you need to drive to the basket with your player. Once you are around the free-throw line, press X and Circle (PlayStation) or A and B (Xbox) to throw yourself an alley-oop pass. Finally, press the Shoot button (Square or X) to finish the dunk. Make sure to time the dunk right or your player will miss it.
