Wondering how to shoot in NBA 2K24? Then you’ve come to the right place.

Knowing how to shoot the ball effectively is incredibly important if you’re going to pick up those wins on the latest 2K Sports title. However, whilst the processes are simple, there are a number of ways in which you can improve your chances of seeing the ball swish through the hoop.

So, without further ado, here is everything you need to know about how to shoot now the NBA 2K24 release date has been and gone.

How to shoot in NBA 2K24

The basic controls for shooting in NBA 2K24 remain the same as in any other edition of the basketball sim. They are as follows:

  • PlayStation: Hold Square or right analogue stick
  • Xbox: Hold X or right analogue stick

As has been the case in recent years, you can choose to shoot with either buttons (square/X) or by using the analogue stick. You can also alternate between these options during each game if you wish.

For those new to the game, we recommend having the shot meter turned on as this will help you to get a gauge of how each player on the court shoots the ball. Some will have quick release, some will take longer. It’s important to know the shooting habits of your players in order to maximise your chances of success.

Shooting hotspots

In addition to this, we also recommend learning the hotspots of each player on your team. Hotspots are the areas on the court in which your player is most effective. For example, Steph Curry has hotspots all around the edge of the key, whilst Giannis Antetokunmpo’s hotspots will be found in and around the paint.

Always make sure you look for the open man. Players in space will be more likely to convert their shots than those who are heavily contested. Whilst you also need to be realistic with the shots you are taking. Don’t expect to see Ben Simmons sinking threes, as that is not his forte.

2KU is a great place to head to practise your shooting. There is a range of different modes available within 2KU that allow you to fine tune your skills without the pressures of a competitive opponent.
