You might be wondering how to steal fatalities with Shang Tsung in Mortal Kombat 1, so let’s go over just how we would do that.

Mortal Kombat 1’s just seen the resurgence of a new mechanic with Shang Tsung, who can steal other character’s fatalities. One of MK’s signature features is the finishers – effectively the fatalities and brutalities which are present in the game. These ultra-violent theatrics compose one of the game’s most attractive mechanics, and are often used to gloat and goad at opponents.

Shang Tsung was the franchises first antagonist, and has now returned to antagonise those in the Earthrealm and Outworld. One of the defining features of the character’s return is the fatality stealing mechanic, which you can activate by transforming into another playable character.

How to steal fatalities as Shang Tsung in Mortal Kombat 1

Firstly, you’re going to need to get familiar with Shang Tsung’s Form Stealer combo. If you’re followed our MK1 tips and Mortal Kombat 1 combos guide you’re going to be pretty familiar with how to pull this off.

  • Forward, Down, Back, Low Kick (B on Xbox, Circle on PlayStation, or 4 on fight stick)

Once you’ve done this combo, you’re going to transform into your opponent, which you can use to counter their attacks pretty easily.

From here, you can continue fighting until you get the chance to give your opponent a fatality. This will give your opponent a fatality as themselves, rather than Shang Tsung’s.

We’re going to keep an eye out for the latest on how you can steal fatalities with Shang Tsung, and we’re going to be looking forward to seeing if the same can be said for fatal blows. This is one of the features we found most impressive with Mortal Kombat 1, and is part of the reason we gave it such a good rating in our Mortal Kombat 1 review.
