This guide will tell you all you need to know about accessing the Sunbreak DLC in Monster Hunter Rise.

Sunbreak DLC Unlock Prerequisites

Unfortunately, there is no way to directly access the Sunbreak DLC as it is integrated into the main game. To unlock the Sunbreak DLC, players must meet 2 basic requirements. However, one of these is a fairly time-consuming process requiring you to play most of the base game’s content.

Reach Hunter Rank 7 And Defeat Narwa

That’s right, the first step to unlocking Sunrise requires players to reach Hunter Rank 7 by completing all the Hub Quests up to difficulty rank 6. At the end of rank 7, players will get access to the Urgent Quest, Serpent Goddess of Thunder, which will have them hunt the Narwa in a special boss fight at the Coral Palace.

Once you complete this boss fight, you will be treated to a cutscene, effectively ending the main game’s story.

Tips To Reach HR 7 Quickly

We understand that reaching Hunter Rank 7 is no small task, but there are some tips you can keep in mind to speed up your progress if you are in a rush to unlock Sunbreak. These are as follows:

  • You can ignore all the Village Quests and focus only on the Gathering Hub Quests, as only your Hunter Rank matters.
  • Pick easy hunts that you feel you will be comfortable finishing quickly.
  • Get the help of friends with high-level gear to help you take down Hub Quest monsters easily.

Leaving For Elgado

After you finish the main story, you will get a popup about the Sunbreak DLC and just need to head over and talk to Rondine the Trader. Rondine the Trader can be found at the entrance to Kamuro village.

Note that once you talk to her and start the DLC quest, you will lose access to Kamura village for a short while. So, we suggest you finish all your business around the village before talking to her.

The quest itself will have you hunt a returning monster from previous Monster Hunter titles, Daimyo Hermataur, in the Shrine Ruins. Once you complete this fight, return to the village and talk to Dame Fiorayne near the steps where you find Elder Fugen. This will let you finally begin your quest and travel to the Elgado Outpost, a brand-new central hub for you to explore!

Final Thoughts

Monster Hunter’s Sunbreak DLC requires a fair bit of commitment to unlocking and requires players to reach Hunter Rank 7 by completing Hub Quests. However, the reward is worth it, as once you achieve this, you will unlock the brand-new Elgado outpost and gain access to new weapons, mechanics, monsters, and several hours of content to enjoy!
