Wondering how to start the Guy Savage nightmare mini-game in Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater? Konami has gone all in and not just recreated the main story in glitzy modern graphics, but also the more obscure parts of Kojima’s classic, including the much-loved nightmare hack-and-slash mini-game.
They even roped in the action gurus over at PlatinumGames of Bayonetta fame to help out for a fully reimagined version. In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to unlock the nightmare mini-game in Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater.
How to unlock the Guy Savage nightmare mini-game in Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater
To unlock the Guy Savage nightmare mini-game, you’ll need to progress the game until you reach the Groznyj Grad and Snake is tortured by Volgin. Once you’re in the Groznyj Grad Torture Room prison cell, grab the fork on the ground and cure Snake’s injuries.
Next, open up the codec and save the game by talking to Para-Medic. She’ll tease Snake about vampires, which he fears. Exit to the main menu, then reload the save you just made – it’s marked in red as opposed to the dark grey of standard saves. Doing this will load you into the nightmare mini-game where you’ll need to fight your way through waves of beasts and vampires. Note that it can take a while to load so don’t despair if it seems stuck.
Alternatively, you can also unlock the Guy Savage mode by simply beating the game on any difficulty level without the need to actually access it from the cell as we explained above. Once you’ve watched the credits, head to the main menu and you’ll see a Guy Savage option just under the Snake Vs Monkey.
If you haven’t beaten the game yet, here’s how long it should take you to beat the story. There’s also a multiplayer mode on the way later this year.
