Henry is back for yet another raucous trudge through Bohemia, boozing, scrapping, and swearing his way to avenge his parents. While a solo playthrough forms the core experience, imagine diving in with a friend for some boozy medieval antics and co-op skirmishes with pointy swords and cumbersome armor? Sounds like a good time.

But is it even possible? The short answer is no, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 is purely single player experience. In this guide, we’ll walk you through the absence of co-op and multiplayer in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2.

Can you play Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 in co-op or multiplayer?

No, unfortunately, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 doesn’t feature a multiplayer component nor does it offer co-op play between friends. It’s designed from the ground up as a narrative-focused single player experience with no scope to experience the story alongside another player. This is in keeping with the first Kingdom Come Deliverance, which didn’t offer any form of multiplayer.

There were early projects among fans to pull together a multiplayer mod, but due to the inherent complexity of morphing the game’s unique combat for multiplayer, it was soon abandoned. Given that the sequel is built on the same foundations, it’s very unlikely modders will even attempt to tweak the game to accommodate some form of multiplayer. Even if they do, it’s likely to be extremely rudimentary and far removed from the multiplayer experience we’ve come to expect from games that offer it in an official capacity.

All in all, it’s bad news if you were hoping to experience Bohemia with a friend. It’s not necessarily a bad thing given that Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 is shaping up to be a generation-defining RPG as we reported in our preview. It looks like there will be enough content, twists and turns, and other medieval tomfoolery to keep most players busy for dozens and dozens of hours. It won’t be on Game Pass, though, and Switch players are likely in for a serious wait, if the game one day reaches Nintendo’s console at all.
