Behaviour Interactive’s asymmetric survival horror game is all about the multiplayer experience it offers, whether you’re sacrificing Survivors to the Entity, or trying to open the exit gates and escape the Trials before the Killer can get you. But when it comes time to playing with your friends, will you be able to get into matches if you’re on different platforms? What is the state of Dead by Daylight crossplay, and is the game cross platform? We’ll answer that and more here.

Is there crossplay in Dead by Daylight?

Dead by Daylight supports crossplay on PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and the Nintendo Switch. You can play with friends on any console without issue, making it an accessible game for players everywhere. All you need to do is navigate to the options menu and find the online section to ensure crossplay is enabled.

The only exception is the mobile version of Dead by Daylight, which doesn’t currently support cross-platform play outside of the mobile market. IOS and Android players can enjoy the game together without issue, however, just not with other platforms.

Does Dead by Daylight have cross-progression?

Dead by Daylight finally has a cross progression system – good news for everyone looking to play DBD between different platforms. During the game’s eighth anniversary celebration on May 14 live stream, the devs have shared the news that cross progression was finally coming to Dead by Daylight.

The cross-progression feature was added to the game on July 22, 2024. That means that you’re be able to share your progress between different platforms as long as they are linked by your Behaviour account. This doesn’t include the mobile version, because that is regarded as a separate game from its PC and console counterparts.

With the cross-progression system now in the game, you are able to share everything between platforms, with one caveat. Players on Nintendo Switch aren’t be able to share DLC and paid currency between platforms, only progression and inventory.

How to check Dead by Daylight crossplay settings and play with friends on other platforms

When you install Dead by Daylight, cross-play is automatically enabled. You can check this in your settings, in the ‘Online’ area of the Options tab. If the cross-play box is checked, then you’re able to play with a bunch of players globally. If for whatever reason, cross-play isn’t enabled, this will typically be indicated by a small globe icon next to the ‘Searching for party…’ text in the lower-right corner of your screen when queuing.
