Is Dead by Daylight crossplay or cross platform? Behaviour Interactive’s asymmetric survival horror game is all about the multiplayer experience it offers, whether you’re sacrificing Survivors to the Entity, or trying to open the exit gates and escape the Trials before the Killer can get you.

But when it comes time to play with your fiends, will you be able to get into matches if you’re on different platforms? What is the state of Dead by Daylight crossplay, and is the game cross platform? We’ll answer that and more here. If you’re looking for a full breakdown of Dead by Daylight multiplayer, or searching for some answers to burning gameplay questions like the best Killer perks and best Survivor perks, we can help you out.

Is dead by daylight crossplay?

Dead by Daylight supports crossplay on PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and the Nintendo Switch. You can play with friends on any console without issue, making it an accessible game for players everywhere. All you need to do is navigate to the options menu and find the online section to ensure crossplay is enabled.

The only exception is the mobile version of Dead by Daylight, which doesn’t currently support cross-platform play outside of the mobile market. IOS and Android players can enjoy the game together without issue, however, just not with other platforms.

Does Dead by Daylight have cross progression?

While crossplay is certainly a feature for Dead by Daylight, cross progression is sadly absent. That means if you’re playing with an account on PS4/ PS5, it won’t carry your progress over should you attempt to log in on Xbox Series X or Steam.

It’s currently unclear if this is going to change at some point in the future, but it’s certainly a likely possibility. As an example, Apex Legends crossplay has been present in Respawn Entertainment’s battle royale for quite some time. It was only with the arrival of Apex Legends Season 19 though that Apex Legends cross progression became a reality. With half the work done and crossplay already in the game, it’s certainly not impossible that something similar could happen with Dead by Daylight in the future.

How to check Dead by Daylight crossplay settings and play with friends on other platforms

When you install Dead by Daylight, cross-play is automatically enabled. You can check this in your settings, in the ‘Online’ area of the Options tab. If the cross-play box is checked, then you’re able to play with a bunch of players globally. If for whatever reason, cross-play isn’t enabled, this will typically be indicated by a small globe icon next to the ‘Searching for party…’ text in the lower-right corner of your screen when queuing.

That covers everything you should need to know about Dead by Daylight crossplay, and the current status of cross progression. There’s loads more to learn about the game once you’re queuing into matches though.
