If you’re getting started in Fallout London, one of the tutorial missions tells you to use the torch. However, it doesn’t offer much in terms of clear steps to actual use the item. In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to use the torch alongside other ways to find lighting sources in the game. Fallout London is very dark, so you probably want to adjust your brightness a little or find extra sources of light.

Using your Torch in Fallout London

To use your torch, hold down the pip boy button. The pip-boy button is the Tab key on PC, the circle button if you’re using a PlayStation controller, or B on an Xbox controller. If you’ve tweaked the controller scheme or key binds, press the appropriate button for your setup.

Holding down that button will turn on the torch. If it doesn’t, make sure you have the torch equipped in your inventory. You can find it by opening up the inventory and then checking the named items there. Make sure the torch has a square equipped symbol next to its name on the left to ensure it’s equipped on your pip-boy. You should now see white light coming from your clothes beaming forward, illuminating wherever you are looking. You’ll also see a symbol to the right of your HUD letting you know your torch is on.

As you progress through the game, you can also find helmets with built-in torches. These include the miner’s hat and the police hat so you don’t necessarily have to solely rely on the torch as your only source of light. You’ll find these and others throughout the story so make sure to loot regularly to pick them up.
