So you want to know how to report cheaters in MW3? You’ve come to the right place. Cheating has been a reoccurring issue throughout Call of Duty games, especially since the Modern Warfare series gained incredible popularity in the gaming space.
As we await the launch of Modern Warfare 3, Activision is looking to take serious measures against cheaters after receiving reports of cheating throughout the MW3 beta. The Call of Duty publisher now has a new cheating policy but before we get into that, be sure to go over our MW3 Campaign early access.
What is the MW3 cheating policy?
Activision is once again relying on Team Ricochet, a team of developers at the company responsible for handling and maintaining the game’s anti-cheat measures. The official Call of Duty updates account recently took to X (formerly Twitter) to say that, “Team Ricochet will be ready for the MW3 launch with a new suite of detections and protections set to go live on launch day, November 10.”
The Microsoft company has also confirmed in a blog post that players can expect, “New additions to Ricochet Anti-Cheat as well as new anti-toxicity plans to continue to deliver a fun, fair and welcoming online experience for all players.”
Activision went on to say that this is merely the beginning. And that, “The RICOCHET Anti-Cheat team’s commitment is the relentless pursuit of fair play, which is fought against the sophisticated issue of cheating.” So if you’re worried about cheaters in MW3, you can be rest assured that Activision isn’t kidding around in MW3.
How to report cheaters in MW3
Activision’s anti-cheat measures may not always work, which means you might have to take matters into your own hands by reporting the player you suspect of cheating or using inappropriate language.
According to Activision, you can report a player from the game’s multiplayer menu through the following steps:
- Press Y (Xbox) or △ (PlayStation) to open the Social menu, or select the Social tab on PC.
- Select Recent Players.
- Highlight the player you wish to report and press A (Xbox) or X (PlayStation), or select the player on PC.
- Select Report Player.
- Choose one of the available options.
The company has made it very clear that it takes issues of reports, “Very seriously,” and appreciates whenever a player suspected of an offence is reported. Activision will take the necessary measures but will not provide you with an update on whatever actions it takes on the reported player.
So that’s the company’s new cheating policy and how you can report cheaters in Modern Warfare 3. If you need a refresher on the campaign, here’s our Modern Warfare story so far guide. And if you’re playing on PC, here’s our MW3 system requirements to make sure your PC is ready to go!
