If you’ve just started playing MTG Arena, then you most likely know that you don’t start with very many cards. The game gives you a handful of low power decks and honestly, those decks won’t be winning many games. If you’re looking to beef up your decks then you’re going to need MTG Arena wildcards.

This guide is going to go through methods you need to get wildcards, and how to use them. Some of the methods of acquiring wildcards do require spending money, but we do have some free methods as well. Everything here is pretty straight forward in process, so let’s get started.

How to get MTG Arena wildcards

There are a few ways that you can get MTG Arena wildcards. The first way is that wildcards have a chance to show up in packs of cards. This will replace the rare or mythic that you normally would get with a wildcard that’s added to your collection. Mythic packs have a higher chance of containing a rare or mythic wildcard, but they’re more expensive.

While you’re opening packs, you’ll also get guaranteed wildcards as noted by the wheel in the top right hand corner. Every six packs will net you a wild card, and every fifth rare wildcard, you’ll also get a mythic wildcard. Additionally, as you open packs, you’ll gain invisible progress to something called “The Vault”. This is MTG Arena’s duplicate compensation method. When the vault reaches 100%, you’ll be able to open it for one mythic, two rare and three uncommon wildcards.

The last way that that you can get wildcards, and a lot of them, is to buy them directly from the shop. MTG Arena offers two bundles, four rare wildcards for about $10, and four mythic wildcards for about $20. You can only buy 10 of each of these bundles, but that amount does reset every set.

How do I redeem MTG Arena wildcards?

Once you have your wildcards in your collection, it’s time to redeem them for cards. But how do we do that? Well first, we’ll want to go up to the Decks section. From here, you can either head into Collections. If you go to Collections, clicking the “Craft” button in the top right hand corner will show you all available cards in the game. If a card is grayed out, or is missing a highlighted diamond above it, that means you’re missing those cards.

Clicking on one of these cards will bring up a screen that with a big craft button under the card. If you click on the diamonds underneath the card, you can craft multiple copies at once.

The next method to being able to craft cards is going into a deck. There will be a red number next to any cards that have to be crafted.

Left clicking on the number next to the card will bring up the same craft screen from earlier. Additionally you can click the “Craft All” button at the bottom and craft all the cards you need at once, assuming you have the wildcards to do so. The “Craft All” option can also be done from the deck selection screen. We recommend going into the deck and seeing what needs to be crafted before committing to making the cards.

And that’s all you need to know folks! Wildcards are incredibly useful for building up your collection and hopefully you’ll be able to get as many as you need with the information here.
