Let’s take a look at Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae best builds in Honkai Star Rail. With the release of patch 1.3, the first phase banner for this Honkai Star Rail update introduced the long-anticipated Imbibitor Lunae, otherwise known as IL or 5-Star Dan Heng.

As a five-star Imaginary character who follows the Path of Destruction, Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae is the perfect for for a main DPS. To this end, he should be built with substantial Crit DMG and ATK% to get the highest performance out of him.

Honkai Star Rail 1.3 release has introduced a slew of new functions and changes to the game. As ever with updates like this, the featured character banners are what people want the most. Without further delay, let’s look at the best builds for Imbibitor Lunae in Honkai Star Rail.

Imbibitor Lunae Best Light Cones

Dan Heng / Imbibitor Lunae is a Destruction character, meaning he is best suited to be your main DPS. The best Light Cone for Imbibitor Lunae is Bright Than the Sun, his signature Light Cone. Most of the signature Light Cones that are released for specific characters are incredibly good for them, but this one for Imbibito Lunae is outrageously broken if he uses it. With that in mind, there are plenty of free-to-play options available for Imbibitor Lunae, so don’t worry about spending on the Light Cone weapon banner.

On The Fall of the Aeon is Imbibitor Lunae’s best F2P Light Cone

On the Fall of an Aeon is a five-star Light Cone you can buy from Herta’s Store with Herta Bonds. This Light Cone is excellent on Imbibitor Lunae and can be an excellent substitute for his signature Light Cone.

Since Herta Bonds are so easy to come by every week, you should have no trouble saving up for On the Fall of the Aeon Light Cone or Superimposing it if you have several copies. The accessibility of this Light Cone and its five-star rarity make it better than any four-star Light Cones you could give him as a Destruction character. Build him as a DPS with any of these Light Cones:

Light ConeRarityReason
Brighter Than the Sun5-StarThis Light Cone is his signature weapon, which means it’s perfect for him. It ramps up his Crit Rate, ATK% and gives Energy Recharge. This Light Cone will see a dramatic increase in DPS for imbibitor Lunae.
On the Fall of the Aeon5-StarIf you don’t want to Warp on the weapon banner, you should choose this Light Cone above any others. It will take time, but getting it to S5 is free and highly recommended if you want a stronger Imbibitor Lunae without his signature Light Cone.
Something Irreplaceable5-StarSomething Irreplaceable could be used on Imbibitor Lunae, but we would recommend having On the Fall of the Aeon instead. This Light Cone is better utilised on other characters like Clara, but feel free to play around with it and give it Imbibitor Lunae to test its effectiveness.
A Secret Vow4-StarA great four-star option to give to Imbibitor Lunae if you don’t have anything else. This Light Cone is great if you’ve got one spare for Imbibitor Lunae, but it should mostly be used as a placeholder until you get On the Fall of the Aeon. The damage increase it offers is sizeable, especially if you can S5 this Light Cone but that will require a lot of Warps, which is not advisable due to the cost.

Brighter Than the Sun, even at S1, will give you the most optimal damage output and effectiveness out of Imbibitor Lunae. The passive effect is rammed with great additions, specifically Crit Rate and ATK%, all of which will make Imbibitor Lunae hit like a truck. All in all, we recommend On the Fall of the Aeon as his best choice for a Light Cone unless you have Brighter Than the Sun. It’s a five-star rarity and it’s free to get through playing the game, which means no relying on the Gacha.

Imbibitor Lunae best Relics and Planar Ornaments

To get the most out of Imbibitor Lunae as your Main DPS, the build we recommend focuses on enhancing his strengths, such as his Imaginary damage and incredibly strong Ultimate. To that end, you have some Relic options that lend themselves well to making Imbibitor Lunae a stupendously strong main DPS.

TypeSetSet BonusReason
RelicWastelander of Banditry DesertTwo-piece set: Increases Imaginary DMG by 10%.
Four-piece set: When attacking debuffed enemies, your Crit Rate increases by 10% and Crit DMG is increased by 20% against Imprisoned enemies.
Wearing the full four-piece set will give you a brilliant increase to Crit DMG and increase Imbibitor Lunae’s Imaginary DMG. This set has the highest damage potential thanks to the other bonuses.
RelicMuskteer of Wile Wheat and
Wastelander of Banditry Desert
Two-piece Musketeer set: 12% ATK increase.
Two-piece Banditry set: Increases Imaginary DMG by 10%.
Mixing the two-piece Musketeer and Banditry set will give you a boost to ATK and Imaginary DMG, which can be good to play around with if you want to try something other than the Wastelander of Banditry Desert, but this set is not as optimal.
Planar OrnamentRutilant ArenaTwo-piece set: Increases your Crit Rate by 8%. When your Crit Rate reaches 70% or more, your Basic Attack and Skill DMG is increased by 20%.Rutilant Arena is the only Planar Ornament you should use for Imbibitor Lunae. Thanks to his innate Crit Rate, he will easily benefit from the bonus and always get that 20% damage bonus.

Generally speaking, the four-piece Banditry set is the best for Imbibitor Lunae, so don’t worry about any other Relics here. When it comes to main and substats, you want to focus on Crit DMG and ATK%, which is all fairly simple when building Lunae as a main DPS. You need to make sure you are over 70% Crit Rate, so choose your Chest main stat based on this number.

Imbibitor Lunae does not need Speed

Something to bear in mind when building Imbibitor Lunae is that he devours your Skill Points. His Skill in battle can be levelled up three times to unleash a different attack at each stage, spending a Skill Point each time you enhance it.

This means you need to make sure that Imbibitor Lunae doesn’t have a ton of Speed, while also ensuring your other party members do have a lot of Speed. This lends itself to the loop of spending three Skill Points to bolster Lunae’s attack, then using your faster party members to recoup those lost Skill Points before Lunae’s next turn, otherwise you won’t have enough Skill Points to do optimal damage.

Imbibitor Lunae Traces priority

Imbibitor Lunae’s talents should be levelled to ensure he deals optimal damage. When it comes to the main priority, you should level his Traces in this order: Basic Attack, Ultimate, Talent, and then Skill. Make sure you level these alongside each other but you should focus entirely on Basic Attack first before moving on to anything else.

TraceEffect
Basic AttackBeneficent Lotus: Deals DMG equal to 50% of Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae’s ATK.
Transcendence: Three hits that deal Imaginary DMG equal to 130% of Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae’s ATK to a single target.
Divine Spear: Five hits that deal Imaginary DMG equal to 190% of Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae’s ATK to a single enemy target and then 30% to adjacent targets.
Fulgurant Leap: Seven hits that deal Imaginary DMG equal to 250% of Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae’s ATK to a single target. Deals 90% to adjacent targets.
SkillEnhances Basic Attack. This can be performed three times consecutively, costing a Skill Point each time. When using Fulgurant Leap, gains one stack of Outrour to Dan Heng, increasing Crit DMG by 6%.
UltimateThree-hit attack that deals Imaginary DMG equal to 180% of Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae’s ATK to a single enemy. Deals further DMG to any adjacent enemies while granting two Squama Sacrosancta. Squama Sacrosancta offsets how many Skill Points are required to enhance Dan Heng’s Basic Attack when using his Skill, consuming a Squama Sacrosancta instead.
TalentDan Heng Imbibitor Lunae gets one stack of Righteous Heart after each hit. Increases his DMG by 5% and stacks six times.
TechniqueDeals damage equal to 120% of Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae’s ATK to all enemies it hits. Grants one Squama Sacrosancta upon entering combat.
Bonus AbilityRegenerates 15 energy at the start of the battle.
Bonus AbilityResist crowd-control debuffs by 35%
Bonus AbilityCrit DMG increases by 24% when attacking foes with Imaginary weakness.

Imbibitor Lunae Eidolons

Before we get into it, we want to provide a warning that Eidolons in Honkai Star Rail are never worth spending money on since it costs an absurd amount of real money to have enough Stellar Jade to do so. However, if you are interested in Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae’s Eidolons, then knowing which ones to aim for is beneficial.

  1. Tethered to Sky – Increases the stackable Righteous Heart count by four, and gains one extra stack of Righteous Heart for each hit during an attack.
  2. Imperium on Cloud Nine – After using his Ultimate, Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae’s action is advanced forward by 100% and gains one extra Squama Sacrosancta.
  3. Clothed in Clouds – Skill level + two, up to a maximum of level 15. Basic ATK level + one, up to a maximum of level 10.
  4. Zephyr’s Bliss – the buff effect granted by Outroar lasts until the end of this character’s next turn.
  5. Fall is the Pride – Ultimate level + two, up to a maximum of level 15. Talent level + two, up to a maximum of level 15.
  6. Reign, Returned – After any other ally uses their Ultimate, the Imaginary RES PEN of Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae’s next Fulgurant Leap attack increases by 20%. This effect can stack up to three times.

Generally speaking, E2 is a great place to stop if you get him there. Everything else isn’t entirely necessary until you reach E6. As we said, this will cost a lot of money and realistically is not worth the cost regardless of how much it improves him.
