The best ultimates in Ghostrunner 2 add another devastating layer to Jack’s already-impressive fighting chops and can make getting through a particularly demanding enemy zone a whole lot simpler. However, not all of them are created equal, from very situational ultimates to others that work pretty much anywhere and against any enemy.

For those weighing up the merits of which ultimate to use, we’ve pulled together a ranked list of the best ultimates in Ghostrunner 2. As is always the case with these lists, ours isn’t set in stone and is guided by personal preference to a certain extent, so no slight intended if we ranked your favourite a bit too low. If you’re just starting out with Ghostrunner 2, check out our tips and tricks beginner’s guide and our review for our thoughts on the cyberpunk slasher.

Here are the best Ghostrunner 2 ultimates ranked:

5 – Overlord

  • Level 1- Allows you to target and mindhack a selected enemy who then proceeds to fight on your side.
  • Level 2 – For a few seconds after using Overlord, you can use it again to blow up mindhacked enemies.
  • Level 3 – Overlord can target two enemies at once.

While interesting in theory, in practice Overlord tends to be very hit and miss, especially in the early levels when enemy variety is slim and they aren’t all that powerful. Used on a ranged enemy, Overlord works well enough, but we feel you get more out of the other ultimates on offer in Ghostrunner 2.

  • Level 1 – Allows you to target and dash towards two enemies, killing them instantly.
  • Level 2 – For a few seconds after using Blink, you can use it again to return to the initial use location.
  • Level 3 – Blink can target three enemies at once.

Blink can be useful for killing grouped enemies in challenging enemy zones, especially those stationed quite far away from Jack. There’s also something satisfying about pushing Blink up to level 2, triggering it, killing enemies, then porting back to where you were for some stylish kill pathing. However, it’s very situational and isn’t as useful as some of the other ultimate options in Ghostrunner 2.

3 – Sensory Overdrive

  • Level 1 – Enables bullet-time which slows down everything besides you.
  • Level 2 – Increases the duration of the Sensory Overdrive.
  • Level 3 – Each dash grants you the option to gap-jam yourself towards an enemy for 2 seconds.

More or less a beefed up version of Sensory Boost, Sensory Overdrive allows you to slow down the action when the situation gets overwhelming, which it often does in Ghostrunner 2. Level 3 even adds in the option to gap-jam to an enemy for a swift kill.

2 – Motoric Overheat

  • Level 1 – For a short period of time, it boosts all of your motoric functions, allowing you to move faster, jump higher, and dash further.
  • Level 2 – Increases the energy regeneration rate when Motoric Overheat is active.
  • Level 3 – Makes you immune to one deadly hit when Motoric Overheat is active.

Speed and movement are life in Ghostrunner 2, so an ultimate that heightens your traversal capabilities deserves a top spot in our list of the best ultimates. Not only does Motoric Overheat prove useful in combat, especially in zones with lots of enemies positioned far apart, it can make some of Ghostrunner 2’s more challenging platforming sections a whole lot easier to navigate.

1 – Flux

  • Level 1 – Launches a deadly laser stream that cuts through anything in its way. In its base form, it requires some time to charge.
  • Level 2 – Increases the duration of Flux.
  • Level 3 – Instant charge.

Ghostrunner 2 is all about killing enemies as fast and as efficiently as possible. Flux does just that, beaming out a laser that demolishes enemies almost immediately. With Flux, you can conceivably take out half a dozen enemies in a matter of seconds and for that reason alone it’s the best ultimate in Ghostrunner 2.
