Epic Games has released hundreds of free cosmetics in Fortnite over the past few years. While players are mostly interested in skins, the game developer released many back blings, gliders, pickaxes, and other cosmetics. This is the case in Chapter 6 – Season 4, as you can unlock several items for free, including the De-Rezz De-stroyer pickaxe.
In this guide, we will take a look at how to unlock the free Fortnite pickaxe. The entire process is straightforward, so getting the cosmetic item shouldn’t take you too long.
Can you get a free item by winning a Fortnite Reload match?
When the Fortnite Remix season came out in late 2024, Epic Games added a new pickaxe that was meant to be unlocked for free. However, the pickaxe was just released with the second major update of Chapter 6 – Season 4, nine months later. You can unlock it easily, either by leveling up or by winning matches.
To get the De-Rezz De-stroyer pickaxe, simply get into Fortnite Reload and win two games. You can choose either the regular or Zero Build version. Additionally, the free cosmetic item is available in all playlists, including the newly added Solo playlist.
If winning proves to be difficult, you can unlock the free Fortnite pickaxe by simply leveling up. To add it to your locker, you only need to gain 10 Account Levels, which is something you can do in any game mode. The De-rezz De-stroyer pickaxe will expire on September 24, giving you more than enough time to level up and unlock it.
