What are development traits in College Football 25?

Development traits are effectively a marker that each player on your roster has, that indicates how much they will progress year on year in the game. They become available to view on player cards once the player has joined your roster, or in the case of recruits, on National Signing Day,  though if your coach has the Mind Reader ability you can view their traits once they visit your school.

A player can have one of four possible development traits. These are:

  • Normal
  • Impact
  • Star
  • Elite

Normal development trait

This is the most common trait you’ll find assigned to your players. Players with a normal development trait will progress at a steady rate throughout their careers, and while they do have the potential to become great players, they are less likely to turn into elite players at the very top of the game.

Impact development trait

Players with the Impact trait will develop faster than those with a normal trait, but again, are unlikely to become the very best players. That being said, they are incredibly handy to have around and can form a nice base to support your better players with, so definitely keep an eye on your best Impact players.

Star development trait

Players with the Star development trait should be the focus of much of your attention. They’re some of the fastest developing players, and unless you’re at the very best schools, they will likely be among the best players on your roster when they’ve fully developed.

Elite development trait

Elite players are the very best of the best and will be among the top players in the entire country. Not only will they likely be the best player on your roster, but have the potential to be one of the best players of all-time, so you’re going to want to make sure you keep them for as long as possible. You’re not going to be lucky enough to get one every year, but when you do, make the most of it.
