Wondering how long to set aside to beat id Software’s brand new sinister FPS, DOOM The Dark Ages? In keeping with the tradition established by reboot entries DOOM (2016) and DOOM Eternal, The Dark Ages is a fairly snappy affair by modern standards. We’re not talking all-consuming 100 hour marathons that will take weeks to beat.

In this guide, we’ll walk you through how long it will take most players to beat DOOM The Dark Ages and give you estimates for those sticking to the story and for completionists that don’t want to leave any stone unturned and are aiming to 100% every level. This is based on our own time with the game for review.

How long is DOOM The Dark Ages

DOOM The Dark Ages will take most players between 15 and 20 hours to beat. This takes into account beating the story on the normal Hurt Me Plenty difficulty setting, some exploration off the beaten path in search of collectibles, and a few attempts at completing Mission Challenges and Mastery Challenges for weapons. Naturally, if you’re partial to a higher difficulty expect a tough fight, which will extend your play time by a certain degree.

As for those that want to 100% every level, find every last collectible, upgrade all weapons, complete all challenges, and tick off every trophy, you’re looking at anywhere from 25 to 30 hours. Your mileage will vary here depending, again, on the difficulty setting you choose. On Ultra-Violence and Nightmare, we could see a full playthrough push past the 35 hour mark for some players.

Conveniently, it’s possible to 100% everything and unlock every achievement in a single playthrough. If not, there’s a handy chapter select feature that’s available for any level you’ve already beaten, allowing you to play through them again as and when you want to.
