Death Stranding 2 Standard Orders list and how to unlock them

Standard Orders are Death Stranding 2’s take on the humble side quest. They are entirely optional and exist alongside Orders, which advance the story and focus on connecting Mexico then Australia to the Chiral Network. The main purpose of these optional and repeatable delivery tasks is to improve the connection level with facilities and preppers by earning Likes for each successfully delivered order. A better connection level leads to a better star rating and in turn access to rewards, upgrades, and new gear such as weapons, Chiral Network bandwidth, and materials.

At the start of the game, Standard Orders are glaringly absent and it will take a bit of work to unlock them. In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to unlock Standard Orders and provide a full list of all Standard Orders in Death Stranding 2.

How to unlock Standard Orders in Death Stranding 2

To unlock Standard Orders, you’ll need to progress the story until you reach Australia in Episode 3 – Drawbridge. Make your way through the BT area to The Government’s Base and pick up Order 010 Liberate the Western Environmental Observatory from the Brigands. Make your way west towards the facility and defeat the Brigands roaming in and around it.

Once you’ve dealt with the Brigands, talk to Peter Gates at Western Environmental Observatory Delivery Terminal. At the end of the conversation, he’ll reveal that everyone’s pretty impressed with Sam’s efforts so far. As a reward you’ll now have access to Standard Orders, starting with Standard Order 269 [Breakable Cargo] Deliver an Encryption Device Used by the Brigands. This applies to both Mexico and Australia, so you can fast travel back to the starting region to complete Standard Orders.

Note that not all Standard Orders are available by default from this point onward and many only become available as you progress the story, discover new facilities, and complete available Standard Orders. You can check for any currently available Standard Orders by pausing the game, opening up the Ring Menu, and navigating to the Orders section then using the search tab.

The Faster Order Preparation APAS Enhancement module reduces the amount of time is takes for orders to be reissued, reducing the time they spend on standby once completed.

Death Stranding Standard Orders list

Standard Orders are claimed at facilities and settlements by heading to the Orders portion of the Delivery Terminal then looking under the Standard Orders section. Most revolve around delivering cargo to a set location, notably fragile items, so take extra care not to damage the cargo. They shouldn’t take too long to complete. Alongside the usual Likes you’ll receive for successfully delivering cargo, Standard Orders also have a unique evaluation system. If you deliver a cargo in pristine condition and meet the order requirements, you’ll earn an additional evaluation in the Porter Grade screen, granting you extra Likes. The evaluation varies depending on the difficulty setting of your playthrough, as follows:

• Legend – Casual
• Legend of Legends – Normal
• Legend of Legends of Legends – Brutal
