Death Stranding 2 red samurai identity
The red samurai in Death Stranding 2 is none other than Sam’s old pal, Deadman. Or at least that’s what you’re led to believe. Later in the story the red samurai removes his mask to reveal what appear to be Deadman’s face and body. Though Deadman is dead and in his Beach, he’s figured out how to hop back to the world of living using Heartman’s body while the latter is journeying to Beaches to map them out. By extension, Sam and the crew don’t find it hard to believe that the red samurai is Deadman using another vessel to help out from the grave.
However, in reality this isn’t Deadman at all, but Higgs masquerading as the red samurai and Deadman to put Drawbridge off the scent and cause confusion by saving Sam from and attacking the Mechs, which are effectively his henchmen. The game’s villain is controlling the red samurai from afar in his quest to bring about the Last Stranding, an apocalyptic world ending event. This is all revealed as you progress the story.
