- Yellow Witherblossom is cleared using the Krist ability
- Complete the Through Stone, We Teach main story quest to learn Krist
- Connect to a Yellow Witherblossom then tap E to use Krist and drain the plant of infection
Once you’re let loose into Creatures of Ava’s open world, you’ll soon come across a curious breed of Witherblossom, one that has floating spores and a yellow health bar that acts as armor. Try as you may, your Nafitar staff’s starting absorption beam can’t seem to cut through this shield to purge the infection. They are immune to basic absorption. More annoying is that Yellow Witherblossoms bar access to hidden paths, permanent upgrades like backpack pockets, and even collectibles.
Fortunately, there’s a spell perfect for dispelling this pesky bloom, which you’ll unlock as you progress the main story. We’ll walk you through how to clear Yellow Witherblossom. While you’re in the Tamura Grasslands, it’s also worth finding all the Wind Chimes and Censers to score useful skill points.
How to get rid of Yellow Witherblossom
To clear Yellow Witherblossom, you’ll need to unlock and use an ability called Krist. The ability is added to your arsenal as part of the Through Stone, We Teach main story quest. It’s fairly early on in the story, so press on if you haven’t quite reached it yet. Arsira Villager’s archaeologist, Nim’ar, tasks Vic with tracking down a second Sagestone, this time in The Weeping Rock, which is in the south of the starting Tamura Grasslands region.
Head to the marker on the map and make your way through the ruins to the Sagestone at the top. Completing the puzzle by reordering the pieces gives Vic the Krist ability. It weakens the withering for a limited time, allowing the Nafitar to cut through the Yellow Witherblossom’s armor and destroy the infected plant.
To use Krist, first connect to the blossom by aiming at the plant and holding down the left mouse button to cast a connection ring, then tap the E or Q key (depending on where you’ve assigned your abilities) to activate the spell. From there, the Nafitar’s infection absorption will work like it does on standard blossoms, bypassing the withered’s immunity.
The spell also works on creatures with yellow armor that you’ll find around Ava. Note that Krist’s effect is on a timer, so make sure to weaken the plant as quickly as possible before the armor regenerates. You can supplement this with skills like Overcharge I, Overcharge II, Krist II, and Beam II, which all improve the rate at which the Nafitar absorption works.
