Is Cities Skylines 2 coming to Xbox and PS5? With the latest Paradox city builder approaching its launch, players are wondering if only PC owners will get to play Colossal Oder’s new serving.
As we stated in our Cities Skylines 2 review, there’s a lot to be excited about. But new graphics upgrades and quality-of-life improvements mean beefier Cities Skylines 2 system requirements. From smarter road tools to seasons and a day-night cycle, there are a lot of changes in the new title. While under-the-hood improvements are harder to spot, the improvement in graphical fidelity is evident. Expect this to carry over to the console versions too.
Is Cities Skylines 2 on Xbox and PS5?
Yes, Cities Skylines 2 is coming to Xbox Series X|S and PS5. However, the console launch has been delayed to spring 2024. The PC version is on track to release this October.
Paradox Interactive stated “We need more time to reach the quality targets we have set. As we want to provide the best experience for our players, we are updating the release window for Xbox and PS5 to spring 2024. The additional time allows us to focus on matching the quality and performance across all platforms.” This should hopefully bring the console editions closer to the polish of the PC version. And while the latter has its fair share of performance woes, we didn’t run into any major issues when we tested the game out.
Preorders were refunded automatically and the system requirements were increased once more. Considering how big of a sequel it is, it’s understandable that the game needs some more time in the oven. Check whether Cities Skylines 2 is on Game Pass if you’re subscribed to Microsoft’s game service.
