Gather gems whenever you can

All room types are important for progressing up the ranks towards the Antechamber or for progressing the manor’s mystery. However, you can only draft some of the most crucial rooms, especially as you get deeper into the manor, in exchange for gems. Nothing quite saps the momentum out of a run than not having the gems to progress. You’ll want to grab gems whenever you have the opportunity by placing rooms guaranteed to contain gems, searching for gems in every room, and beating the Parlor Game. Be sparing and only spend them when absolutely necessary and ideally not in the first few rank rows.

Understand Red and Blue Memos

Dotted around Mt. Holly manor are blue and red memos cards displaying a range of curious statements that will and won’t help you progress, namely because some of them are lies. If you draft a Security room, you’ll find a note on the desk below the monitors. It notes two very crucial pieces of information: blue memo cards are true statements, while red memos are lies unless written by hand. Be wary of red memos as a general rule and take the blue cards at face value.

There is only one copy of each room floorplan

The early hours of Blue Prince are all about discovery and many of the game’s more obvious mechanics can go unnoticed. Among them is the fact that there is only ever one blueprint for each room type for any given day in the manor. What this means is that if you place down a Parlor or an Lavatory, for example, you won’t draw these again as possible draft options during that day. You can use this to your advantage by using up progress-blocking one-door or dead-end rooms in the lower ranks of the house. This will remove them from the draft pool meaning you won’t draw them later on in the run.

Draft rooms horizontally then vertically

Though the Antechamber is your ultimate goal, it’s a bit of a distraction. You’re far better off drafting new rooms horizontally before trying to progress vertically on the floor map. This will allow you to draft different types of rooms that contain the tools, coins, gems, and keys you’ll need as you venture further north. Without these, you’ll invariably get stuck and have to end the day prematurely.

New rooms = new clues

Consider your first visits to the manor as knowledge-gathering scouting runs. Whenever a new room type pops up the three draft options, take it. New rooms lead to fresh knowledge that will contribute towards progress in later runs thanks to new clues, secrets, or tools you haven’t come across previously. These rooms even sometimes contain extra steps that will invariably come in handy later on in the run. Progress isn’t so much about reaching the Antechamber at the very north of the house as gathering up as much information about how the curious manor works.

Read and note down everything

Whenever you enter a room, scour every surface and wall for documents, cards, and other clues then read them thoroughly. Though Blue Prince is stacked with opaque puzzles, all the information you need to solve them is out there. The game is very good at showing you and teaching you what you need to know, but you need to be receptive. Be curious and don’t hesitate to take notes and screenshots that you can refer back to later on.
