Despite the ongoing notion that Apple computers are not for gaming, you might still be interested in the best Apple Arcade games for Mac.
There’s plenty of options out there for the Apple Arcade in terms of its games: Angry Birds Reloaded, PAC-MAN Party Royale, Sonic Racing, and many many more. While a few of these are better played on touchscreen mobile devices, there’s a few titles that make gaming on Mac a fantastic experience. Games like LIMBO+, Mosaic, Hot Lava, and Fantasian are totally worth your attention if you’re trying to turn your Mac into a home console.
Best games for Apple Arcade on Mac
We’ve collected a few of the best games for Apple Arcade below.
Fantasian
If you’re playing Apple Arcade games on your Mac, one of the first you should be playing is Fantasian. As the name and game art suggests, you’d be right in thinking if it was inspired by Final Fantasy. Well, it’s more than that. Helmed by Hironobu Sakaguchi, the very designer responsible for Square Enix’s most popular franchise. In Mistwalker Corp’s Fantasian, you dive into over 160 different ‘dioramas’ echoing the turn-based combat that made the original Final Fantasy games so popular.
SP!NG
Another great game that’s worth playing on Mac is SP!NG, where you’re tasked with mastering the art of the ‘flow.’ There’s over 1,400 levels to play through (though development on the game has now ceased.) It’s not a particularly complex game, and you’ll have a right blast dripping and glooping throughout its colourful world.
LIMBO+
LIMBO is one of those games that is forever etched into my memory. I can’t quite place my finger on it, but the whole experience is unforgettable, sombre, exciting, and above all else, charming. LIMBO+ is the Mac and iOS port available through Apple Arcade, and it’s a great rendition of a game that’s stood the test of time.
Hot Lava
If you’re a fan of Mirror’s Edge, than Hot Lava might just go ahead and blow your mind a little. It’s a vibrant parkour game where dexterity and reaction speeds are going to play a huge part in you escaping death to molten lava. Remember that game you played when you were little; the floor is lava, well. This is that.
Samurai Jack
Gendy Tartakovsky’s famous Samurai Jack show has seen a fantastic rendition into video game format through the Apple Arcade version of Samurai Jack. While it’s not perfect, the art style and movement-based mechanics are a joy to engage in.
NBA 2K24
The final game that we’re going to be recommending for Apple Arcade is NBA 2K24 Arcade Edition, a fantastic way to get your ballin’ fix without breaking the bank too. The game features cross-platform compatibility across Apple devices, including compatibility with Xbox and PlayStation controllers.
