Hidden away across the Emerald Stair are six God Shrine Totem Fragments that you’ll need to find to put back together the Schemer’s Offering, a powerful artifact and totem of Skaen. Once that’s done, you can install the totem at your Party Camp to benefit from some major buffs and perks.
The Emerald Stair is a large region with numerous pits and caves that give it plenty of verticality, but also makes finding these totem fragments a real task. In this guide, we’ll walk you through where to find all seven Totem of Defiance fragment locations in Avowed. As with the Totem of Rightful Rulership fragments in Dawnshore, there’s the option to buy the Fragments of the Offering document for 500 Skeyt from the trader Lluisa Melcer at the Farmer’s Market southeast of Fior mes Iverno, which gives you cryptic clues about the locations of each fragment.

The Schemer’s Offering Totem Core
You’ll find the Schemer’s Offering base fragment in the Shrine to Skaen in the very far west of the Emerald Stair. From Fior mes Iverno, make your way across the bridge into The Wildwoods and press on west until you hit the Ranger Outpost and Low Forest Clearing Beacon. From there, go northwest towards the Wildwoods Plateau Party Camp. Continue northwest, cross the bridge, then climb up the Shrine of Skaen. At the top, you’ll find the totem base sitting on the altar.

Sacrificial Dagger
You’ll find the Sacrificial Dagger in the Abandoned Farms in the Rolling Crags in the northeast of Emerald Stair. Head to the back of the large house surrounded by xaurip huts at the back of the farm. Driven into the back door is the dagger along with a note.

Idol of Covert Plots
You can pick this one up in an abandoned house to the southeast of the Shatterscarp Gatehouse in the Grim Wetlands region in the very far northwest of Emerald Stair. The house is locked, though, so you’ll need to go south, through the gates on your right towards the Infested Camp, then double back on yourself heading north. You can then jump onto the roof of the house and drop in. You’ll find the Idol of Covert Plots on an altar on the ground floor.

Idol of Secret Hatred
You’ll find the Idol of Secret Hatred in the Ancient Grotto in the southwest of Emerald Stair. There’s an entrance down near the river to the northwest of Naku Tedek Grounds. Enter, then follow the path to the crossroads. Take a right, duck into the cave, come out the other side, and go left to find the fragment next to Maxim Vidarro’s body and journal.

Obsidian Prayer Beads
You can find the Obsidian Prayer beads in the Delemgan Glade in the far west of Emerald Stair. Make your way to the back of the Glade where you got the Adragan Heart for the Delemgan Queen in The Animancy Method main story quest. In the clearing before her throne room, look up and you’ll see a ledge up high. Use the rocks and branches to make your way up as far as you can then leap across to the ledge. The Obsidian Prayer Beads are next to a corpse.

Effigy Necklace
To get the Effigy Necklace, you’ll need to press on with the main story until the Ancient Soil quest takes you to Naku Tedek. Once Giatta opens the secret door, go through and take the stairs down to the depths. At the bottom, take a left, then use a shock spell to open the door. Head through then use an ice spell to make pads you can jump across in the water on the right. Climb up the branch and go right to find a table with the Effigy Necklace on top.

The fragment is at the very top of the tower.
Idol of Violent Rebellion
You’ll find this one at the very top of the Ranger Headquarters in the east of the Emerald Stair region. To start climbing the tower, head to the southern side, climb on the crates on the right, then hop onto the roof and use the ladder. From there the path up is fairly obvious and involves several leaps and a few ladders. The fragment is resting on a stack of crates at the top of the tower.
Restore the Schemer’s Offering
Once you’ve gathered up all the fragments, head over to a Party Camp and assemble them into the totem. When activated, The Schemer’s Offering confers the following buffs and perks:
- Furious Frenzy – Second Wind casts Flurry of Blows
- Hidden Hatred – Increase your damage against unaware enemies by 25%
- Bitter Thoughts – Critical Hits deal high Poison Accumulation
- The Slave’s Patience – +2 Constitution, +2 Dexterity
- Kill the Master – Increases your damage against “skull” enemies
- A Vengeful Victim – After taking damage from an enemy, your next attack within 10 seconds deals +20% of the original damage you received. Stacks with Retribution
