Unfortunately, bugs are a common occurrence in many new game releases. Players have encountered a familiar bug in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, one that causes no sound or audio to work, especially during cutscenes. This one’s familiar to AC fans because both Valhalla and Mirage suffered from a similar issue. We can hope that Ubisoft will eventually patch the problem, but until then, let’s see how you can fix it in the meantime.
How to fix the audio bug in AC Shadows
Players report that this bug results in either environmental sounds disappearing after a cutscene (while dialogue remains normal), or in some cases, all sounds turn off completely. It doesn’t seem to matter whether you’re using speakers or headphones. Similarly, the bug happens on all platforms. This is in line with a similar bug we mentioned above that affected AC Valhalla and Mirage. They were patched out, so we can hope that happens soon for Shadows too.
The only known working solution to fix the audio bug is to restart the game. For those who play on consoles, that means you have to fully restart the game, and not just use Quick Resume. On PC, use the same solution – shut down AC Shadows, then start the game again. Considering that this bug can happen around any cutscene, you can encounter it several times during your playing session.
Some PC players have found success by changing a Windows setting too, though this fix doesn’t work all the time. Right-click on the Speaker icon to open the System Tray in the lower right corner of your desktop. Go to Sound Settings, then select the Output Device. Then, turn off Windows Sonic and All Spatial settings, save changes, and try launching Assassin’s Creed Shadows again.
