You’d be amazed at how many people don’t realize just how easy it is to download add-ons for your Football Manager 2024 save. Seriously, all you need to do is head over to the Steam Workshop, search for Football Manager 2024, find what you want, and hit ‘subscribe’.

If it’s a league or data update, you’ll need to do it before starting a new save. But for graphics, skins, and similar updates, you can add them mid-save. That being said, there are over 10,000 add-ons in the Steam Workshop for FM24. Some are incredible, some are useful for very niche things (like managing a Venezuelan third-division team), and, well, a lot are just… distinctly average. So, I’ve done some digging to find the most fun and useful ones for your Football Manager experience.

Obviously, I haven’t tested all 10,000 of them—if none of my suggestions work for you, jump into the Steam Workshop and browse to your heart’s content. I’ll provide links for each one, but if any don’t work, just search the title in the Workshop. If you still can’t find one, feel free to message me on Twitter!

The 2007/08 database

Ah, 2007/08—simpler times. José Mourinho was at his peak, Messi and Ronaldo were just entering their primes, and legends like Kaká, Xavi, and Franck Ribéry were lighting up the pitch. Oh, and let’s not forget Andrey Arshavin.

Thanks to the legend that is The Mad Scientist, you can relive that golden era in FM24. Ever wondered what prime Didier Drogba would be worth in today’s market? This database has you covered. Want to manage peak-era Barcelona? Now’s your chance.

The Mad Scientist has created loads of retro databases, so be sure to check them all out. here.

Adding old legends into the current era

Maybe you don’t want to go back to 2007/08. Maybe you’d rather bring old-school legends into today’s football landscape? Good news—someone’s done exactly that. This database adds legendary players and managers from all eras, from the 40s to the 2000s. Ever wondered how Pelé would fare in the modern game? Or what it would be like to have Bobby Moore leading your defence in 2025? Now you can find out.

Next generation wonderkids that aren’t in the game

Some wonderkids don’t appear in FM24, usually because they’re too young. Normally, you’d just wait for FM25… but, well, we all know why that isn’t happening. This database adds the biggest talents born in 2007, 2008, and 2009—players already making waves at U15, U16, and U17 levels.

It includes prospects from top clubs like Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Man City, Bayern Munich, Ajax, PSV, and Feyenoord, as well as national teams from Spain, England, Germany, Brazil, Argentina, and more. If you want to scout the stars of the future before they’re even legal to drive, this is the add-on for you.

Updated and new injuries mod

Let’s be honest—the injuries in Football Manager get a bit repetitive. Players pull muscles, catch colds, and that’s about it. Sometimes, you just want a bit more variety (or a laugh). Enter the extended injuries mod. This adds 70 new types of injuries, spicing things up for your save. So if you want injuries like this then you know the mod that you need to download.

World Cup with every country

Ever wanted a World Cup with 227 teams? Imagined a tournament with 16 groups where each nation plays 13 games? Of course, you have. Well, now you can bring that chaos to FM24.

Logistically, this could never happen in real life—but in Football Manager, anything’s possible. And yes, I’ll absolutely be trying this myself.

The European Super League

The European Super League was a disaster in real life, and we’re all glad it never happened. But if you’re curious about how it might have played out in FM24, this database has you covered.

Worldwide Champions League

If the European Super League makes your skin crawl, how about a Worldwide Champions League instead? Want to take a midweek trip to Argentina? Test South American teams against Europe’s elite? This is the database for you. Let’s be real—the Club World Cup doesn’t quite cut it. Time to make football a truly global game. (And no need to worry about carbon emissions in FM.)

The worst Football Manager database ever

I couldn’t end this article without mentioning the infamous worst Football Manager database ever. The creator sums it up best: “This database was made with every ounce of evil I have in my body.” After taking a look… yeah, I have to agree.

Final thoughts

These are just a few of the most interesting Steam Workshop add-ons for FM24. If you’re into the women’s game, I’d also recommend the huge female staff shortlist. Are there any great ones I’ve missed? Let me know in the comments!
