✓ VideoGamer Summary
  • Bloober Team, after the success of the Silent Hill 2 remake, has officially confirmed that a Silent Hill remake is now in full development, teased by a short announcement trailer.
  • We predict a 2027–2028 release window, based on the Silent Hill 2 remake’s development timeline, though this could change due to unpredictable development schedules.
  • The trailer reveals little beyond the project’s existence, but the inclusion of the iconic theme suggests composer Akira Yamaoka may return.
  • Pricing is expected to be around $70 (£60), possibly rising to $80 (£70). While platforms are unconfirmed, a PlayStation and Steam timed exclusivity similar to the Silent Hill 2 remake is likely.
  • The remake will feature modern graphics, voice acting, and gameplay improvements while aiming to preserve the original’s atmosphere and horror, potentially adding expanded areas and refined controls.

This article contains officially confirmed information combined with expert industry speculation, rumors, and analysis. We will update this page with the latest news as soon as it’s available.

The Silent Hill 2 remake is beloved by fans for good reason. Bloober Team has shown incredible dedication to the franchise. Despite initial fan skepticism, most have agreed that it is a faithful remake of the classic. Now, with Bloober Team having declared that it is done making bad games, fans have been excited to see their next project.

As of a recent Q and A with investors, the Bloober team has announced that the Silent Hill remake is in full development. This follows a small 30-second confirmation trailer we received a few months back. The future of Silent Hill looks bright (beneath all the fog). We’ve collated everything there is to know as we await this return to the origin of Silent Hill. Read on to enjoy the fruits of our labors.

Expected Silent Hill remake release window

The only information available at this time is a confirmation of the Silent Hill remake’s existence and comments made at a shareholder meeting. However, assuming the Silent Hill remake development timeline follows the Silent Hill 2 Remake, which took two years between announcement and release, then we can predict 2027-2028 as a potential release window.

That said, it’s worth remembering that not only is game development incredibly unpredictable, but Bloober Team was likely further along in development at the time of announcing the Silent Hill 2 remake. This could make for a wider release window. These factors are slightly mitigated, however, since Bloober Team will likely reuse many assets from the Silent Hill 2 remake for this remake.

Conversely, we’ve yet to see much by way of concrete information, so fans should expect to be patient for this remake’s release. This page will be updated when we know more about the Silent Hill remake release date.

Silent Hill remake gameplay and trailer analysis

The trailer itself consists of a foggy background with the iconic Silent Hill theme playing. This then shifts to an announcement that a Silent Hill remake is in development by Bloober Team. The use of the Silent Hill theme composed by the series composer Akira Yamaoka does suggest he will be returning for this Silent Hill game, or at least his music will.

Silent Hill remake price predictions

The expected pricing is very likely to change; however, if it falls in line with the Silent Hill 2 remake’s launch price, then it could release at $70 (£60). This ignores the possibility that the launch price is increased in line with game pricing at the time of release. The possibility of it matching Nintendo’s recent $80 (£70) launch prices is not off the table, and we will update when we have more Silent Hill remake news.

Silent Hill remake platforms

At this time, no specific platforms have been confirmed for the Silent Hill remake. If its release falls in line with the timed exclusivity precedent established by the Silent Hill 2 remake, then it could be available only on PlayStation and Steam at release. However, as stated, there are no confirmations of which platforms it is or is not available on at this time. This page will be updated with platform information when we know more.

How will the Silent Hill remake compare to the original Silent Hill?

The question for many fans will be whether Bloober Team can capture the atmosphere of the original Silent Hill games in this remake. Though we can guess at some of the changes and tweaks we may see.

The first two obvious changes are updated graphics and voice acting. These changes caused some anxiety when it came to the Silent Hill 2 remake, as fans worried that much of the atmosphere would be lost. However, many fans of Silent Hill 2 were ultimately happy with Bloober Team’s updates. This means that fans can enjoy some assurance that the atmosphere and horror of Silent Hill will also be enhanced by this remake.

The Silent Hill 2 remake also introduced expanded areas along with brand new locales for fans to explore, such as the Lake View Hotel. The Silent Hill remake is likely to follow in the same direction.

On a gameplay level, the Silent Hill 2 remake kept many of the puzzles intact but made the overall experience feel smoother. The over-the-shoulder camera made navigation and combat more in line with modern games. This more comfortable control scheme is, however, not entirely in line with the tone of a survival horror.

The more dynamic combat in the Silent Hill 2 remake, for instance, removes a certain horror from the original as players feel safer thanks to responsive, modern controls. However, as with other changes, most fans once again agreed that Bloober Team was largely faithful to the tone of the original experience. This bodes well for the Silent Hill remake.
