Let’s be honest: the best position in Football Manager is always the striker. You’re not getting anywhere without goals, and if you’ve got a bagsman who can net 30 in a season, you’re probably in for a good time. Strikers aren’t just crucial—they’re iconic. When you think of a regen wonderkid, it’s always an Advanced Forward with 17 acceleration from Brazil. Well, that’s where my mind goes anyway.
To help you nail this pivotal position, I’ve rounded up some of the best strikers you can sign in Football Manager 2024. I’m not going to list players already at top clubs—they’ll be unattainable and no help to anyone unless you’re starting a save with Real Madrid. Instead, these strikers are realistic and affordable for a fair few teams. That said, if you’ve just started a save with Oldham, this list probably isn’t for you.
Shaqueel van Persie
You all know his iconic dad—that header and the heartbreak he caused Arsenal fans. But did you know he has a son in the game? (If that doesn’t make you feel old, I don’t know what will.)
You'll get hints, tips, new challenges and all the latest news as we gear up for the next game.⚽🏆
Shaqueel has the potential to hit the same heights as his dad. He’s a well-rounded striker, perfect for the Advanced Forward role, and one of the rare players on this list I’ve actually used. I can confirm: he’s brilliant in FM24 and will score you tonnes of goals. Currently at Feyenoord, he’s a realistic signing for teams in the top five leagues.
Marcos Leonardo
No striker list is complete without a South American wonderkid, and Marcos Leonardo delivers. From his profile, it’s clear he’s incredibly well-rounded and will develop into one of the game’s top strikers.
This might also be the last Football Manager where he’s reasonably affordable. He recently joined Al-Hilal, and you can bet his wages are astronomical. Still, it’s nice to see Saudi clubs targeting wonderkids instead of players in the twilight of their careers
Benjamin Sesko
Okay, I may have bent the “affordable” rule here. But if you’re managing a big club, Benjamin Šeško is a must-buy. Long-time FM players already know how absurdly good he becomes—he’s been a wonderkid for years.
In FM24, physical attributes are king, and Šeško ticks every box: pace, height, and excellent jumping reach. Develop him properly, and he’ll rival the likes of Haaland and Mbappé.
Elye Wahi
The only player who can rival Šeško as the must-buy striker for top clubs is Elye Wahi. Once again, it’s all about those physicals: pace, finishing, and composure well beyond his years.
The catch? You’ll need to act quickly. He’s already on the radar of several big teams and could easily be snapped up in the first transfer window.
Semih Kilicsoy
There must be something in the water in Turkey. With players like Kenan Yildiz (who doesn’t make this list because he’s already at a big club) and Semih Kılıçsoy, Turkey’s future in international football looks bright.
Semih plays for Beşiktaş and is available for around £20-30 million—a bargain in today’s market. He’s a gem worth keeping an eye on.
Skye Vink
Here’s a name you probably haven’t heard much about: Skye Vink. He’s so under the radar that I couldn’t even find a proper screenshot of his FM24 profile. But trust me, this list wouldn’t be complete without him.
Ajax always produces top talent, and Vink is their latest star. At 17, he’s at the perfect age to snap up before the rest of the world catches on. Buy him now, or you’ll be paying a Manchester United-style premium in a few seasons.
Enzo Sternal
Finally, we have Enzo Sternal—the youngest wonderkid on this list. At just 16, he has one of the highest potentials in the game.
Sure, you’ll have to wait a few seasons for him to become a first-team regular, but when he does, he’ll be a star. He’s well-rounded, ridiculously cheap, and available thanks to France’s many cash-strapped clubs.
Are there any wonderkid strikers you think I’ve missed? Let me know in the comments!
Players that narrowly missed out:
Rodrigo Ribeiro
Iker Villar
Matija Popovic
Karim Konate
Wilfried Gnonto
Jason van Duiven
Tommaso Ravaglioli
Ryan Francisco
Francesco Pio Esposito
Mohamed-Ali Cho
Matias Arezo
