The console war is fought everywhere these days, but the internet seems to be where people are most vocal. It also serves to give each console its own set of downloadable content, fuelling the war even more. Each week we'll give you a run-down of what's available to download on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii, and declare a winner.

Note: This round-up is based on UK releases to each console's online service. Releases outside of the UK could vary.

Xbox 360 - Marketplace

With no new titles - Microsoft has said this is because everyone will be playing GTA 4 - this week's new Marketplace content is about as poor as we've seen in a long time. Xbox 360 gamers will have to make do with some new Conflict: DO maps, a new Ace Combat 6 aircraft, a fun Rayman Raving Rabbids 3D Chess Set for Chessmaster Live, a couple of videos and a bunch of Turok Themes.

But as Microsoft said, you're all probably too busy playing GTA 4 to worry about new DLC.

Head to page 3 for a look at this week's Wii Virtual Console releases.

Wii Virtual Console

This week sees the start of the Virtual Console's second Hanabi Festival, bringing a selection of retro titles previously released only in Japan or the US to European Wii gamers.

New are the Turobografx shmups Gradius II Gofer No Yabou and Final Soldier, plus the SEGA Mega Drive puzzle title Columns III. It's great to see previously unreleased titles made available to European gamers, but what isn't great is that Nintendo has priced these titles higher than normal.

Virtual Console releases

Gradius II Gofer No Yabou: 900 Wii Points

Final Soldier: 700 Wii Points

Columns III: Revenge of Columns: 900 Wii Points

And the winner of this week's DLC Royal Rumble is...

Virtual Console

With poor new content for the PS3 and Xbox 360, the Virtual Console takes the victory even though the three releases are overpriced. We know the platform holders are wary of the millions of gamers playing GTA 4, but this week's new content is highly disappointing. If you've got some Wii Points to burn then you might want to take a punt on one of the new Hanabi Festival titles.

Hopefully things will pick up next week.
