HandCircus, the studio behind the hit Rolando titles on iPhone, has announced Okabu for PSN.

According to the blurb on the official game page, players will “guide Kumulo, Nimbe and the cloud-flying heroes as they battle to save their people and their world from the industrialised threat of the Doza!

“Dive into a hyper-tactile toybox world filled with a huge number of puzzles, playthings, adorable creatures and devious machines spread across an epic co-op campaign.”

Visually we’re seeing some resemblance to The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker and cult PSone title PaRappa the Rapper. You can see how it plays by checking out the video below.

Okabu is scheduled for release in 2011, exclusively on PSN for PS3.

Quirky gameplay and cute visuals are often a good mix for a downloadable game, with the visuals able to grab people’s attention and the gameplay doing enough to keep them interested.

Okabu certainly appears to look the part, but it’s a bit early to comment on how it plays.
