Microsoft put out a press release today making sure we all know that something very big is taking place tomorrow. The New Xbox Experience will launch transforming the way millions of Xbox LIVE users experience entertainment.

Microsoft has likened the free update to the introduction of colour TV and is calling the New Xbox Experience a “new era in home entertainment”. Microsoft also reiterated recent comments, confirming that it expects worldwide sales of the Xbox 360 to reach 25 million by the end of the month, eclipsing lifetime sales of the original Xbox console.

“The future of home entertainment is Xbox 360 – it’s on demand, it’s high definition, it’s always social, it’s all in one place,” said Don Mattrick, senior vice president for the Interactive Entertainment Business at Microsoft. “With the New Xbox Experience we will reach the next generation of Xbox owners, 25 million and beyond. We are at a watershed moment, backed by the largest entertainment brands, with an incredible line up of entertainment unmatched in any industry.”

The New Xbox Experience is much more than a fancy paint job or new skin, with a host of enhanced social tools available to Xbox LIVE users from November 19. Once the update installs all users will be asked to create a new Avatar which can be fully customised. This Avatar will integrate into the Xbox LIVE experience and will also be supported by a number of game titles including UNO, Bomberman LIVE and Kingdom for Keflings.

Additionally a new Xbox LIVE Party system allows users to create a virtual party on their TV with up to seven friends: voice chat, share photos in real time and move to new activities while remaining in the party.
