Betrayer, a new first-person shooter that promises to take players back to the turn of the 17th century, has been announced by blackpowder games, a team of veterans mostly from Monolith who worked on No One Lives Forever and the original F.E.A.R..
The game begins in 1604 after sailing from England expecting to join a struggling colony on the coast of Virginia. Things don’t quite work out as planned, with only ghosts and mysteries to be found.
The land has been drained of its colour and life, but what did this, and where are the settlers and tribes who lived here? There’s also a silent woman in red who helps from afar, but who is she and why is she helping?
Players will have to piece together the answers.
Betrayer will be released via Steam Early Access on August 14 priced $15.
