EA Sports Rugby is back, this time featuring the official license of the 2007 Rugby World Cup. The license will enable fans to experience the passion and excitement as they challenge the best teams in the world for the ultimate accolade.
Players can take their team from qualification all the way through to the championship final and raise the Webb Ellis Cup.
New to this year’s game is the ability to take complete control of your squad, emulating the style of your favourite team on offense and defense. Players will be able to use new, authentic defensive formations and have the ability to adjust the defense on-the-fly, adapting to the score, field position and more.
A new control scheme also makes it possible to take full control over every scrum and maul with enhanced push and rotation controls. A new kicking meter has been introduced for penalties and conversions, and simplified lineout controls make things easier for novices (advanced mechanics are still available for pro players).
In addition to the 2007 World Cup mode, the game features World Cup Challenge mode. This is designed to test even the most hardcore of fans, re-creating the biggest moments in World Cup History and challenging the player to rewrite the results with today’s teams.
EA Sports Rugby 08 is scheduled for release only on PS2 on July 27.
