Edge reports that the Los Angeles Convention Center and Visitors Bureau has announced that LA will host E3 for the next three years, a deal the city expects will see an $18 million economic impact.

LA estimates that 33,000 room nights will be paid for during the Entertainment Software Association’s industry event which is confirmed to take place June 2-4, 2009. Additionally cab fares to food expenses will boost the local economy.

“There is much to be said about a convention of this magnitude returning to the entertainment capital of the world,” said L.A. mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. “The video game industry is one of the few industries in the nation that continues to show signs of growth, and ESA’s three-year commitment to Los Angeles is a testament to our City’s formidable hospitality and technology sectors.”

Last week it was confirmed that E3 2009 would feature increased booth sizes and more attendees, more akin to the E3 of old.
