Gran Turismo 5 players will be required to download a 133MB update if they wish to take the game online when they get their hands on the title from midnight today.
Once installed – the process took us a few minutes – the game will be updated to version 1.01 and you’ll have access to racing lobbies, Gran Turismo TV and community features.

Day one patches are hardly anything unusual and seeing as the update opens up access to online functionality – something you’re only going to use if you have your PS3 hooked up to the internet – we don’t see a problem with it.
Fans would much rather the game went into manufacturing in order to meet the release date, than wait for the update to be finished and included on the disc at the expense of an even later release.
