Zegapain XOR is in development at Cavia, the studio behind the Drakengard series, and sees mankind fighting for survival against an enemy called the Gars-orm. The player will take control of Toga Victor, a pilot who is resurrected after being killed in battle, and must pilot the mech Zegapain.
In command of the mech, Toga Victor has an array of weaponry at his disposal, including a lightsaber and a rifle, plus the ability to adapt to different scenarios by trading in parts. Using your mech players will battle in space, on mountains, and in cities, but also inside virtual experiment spaces created by the Gars-orm.
Bandai is to launch a Zegapain anime series on April 6, which will air on the TV Tokyo network. How exactly the series will relate to the game is currently unknown, but it should give the franchise a chance to gain some awareness before the game is released in the summer.
