These days, if you’re not releasing retro titles on modern gaming handhelds then quite frankly you need to get with the program. Activision has seen the light and has announced Activision Hits Remixed, a collection of games from the Atari 2600 age that will soon be playable on your PSP.

The retro collection is scheduled to arrive later this year and will feature more than 40 Activision titles, including Pitfall, Kaboom!, Chopper Command, Stampede, and Keystone Kapers. Those games that had a multiplayer mode will be updated to support PSP swapping (you take turns), or will include wireless play via game sharing.

The games will sport improved front-end graphics (updated visuals), but gameplay is likely to remain untouched. Also look forward to a suitably 80s soundtrack, classic game manuals, and unlockables.
