Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Hinokami Chronicles 2 is heading to Nintendo Switch 2 later this year, with SEGA confirming a new edition for Nintendo’s new console.
Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Hinokami Chronicles 2 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + “Infinity Castle” Character Pass will launch on October 29, 2026, bringing the anime arena fighter to Switch 2 with several improvements over the original Nintendo Switch version.
The big one, as you might expect, is performance. SEGA says the Switch 2 version will feature 60FPS gameplay and higher-quality visuals, which should make the game feel a fair bit sharper in motion than the existing Switch release. Given this is a flashy 3D battler built around huge special attacks, dramatic camera swings, and anime-perfect finishing moves, the frame rate bump is probably the upgrade fans will care about most.
The Switch 2 release will also support two-player local and online Versus Mode, alongside cross-gen play between Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 users. That means players moving over to the newer hardware won’t be cut off from friends still playing on the original Switch version.
SEGA has also confirmed that the new Switch 2 bundle will include the “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle” Character Pass, bringing the game’s Versus Mode roster up to 54 playable characters.
The seven characters included in the pass are:
- Tanjiro Kamado (Infinity Castle)
- Zenitsu Agatsuma (Infinity Castle)
- Giyu Tomioka (Infinity Castle)
- Shinobu Kocho (Infinity Castle)
- Doma
- Akaza (Infinity Castle)
- Kaigaku
The physical edition will be available at launch with the Infinity Castle Character Pass included, priced at $59.99 MSRP. SEGA says more details on the release will be shared in the coming months.
There is also good news for existing Switch owners, although there is a small catch. Anyone who already owns Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Hinokami Chronicles 2 physically or digitally on Nintendo Switch will be able to upgrade to the Nintendo Switch 2 version at no extra cost via a free upgrade pass.
However, the Infinity Castle Character Pass is not included with that upgrade. Players using the free Switch 2 upgrade will still need to buy the DLC separately through the Nintendo eShop if they want access to the additional characters.
SEGA also detailed a couple of bonuses for players with save data from previous Demon Slayer games on Nintendo Switch. Save data from the first Hinokami Chronicles will unlock six Kimetsu Academy character keys, covering Academy Tanjiro, Academy Nezuko, Academy Zenitsu, Academy Inosuke, Academy Giyu, and Academy Shinobu.
Players with save data from Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- Sweep the Board! will receive one unlock key for Hinatsuru, Makio, and Suma, who count as a single playable character, as well as battle attire for their kimono meal prep outfits.
Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Hinokami Chronicles 2 is available now on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, Xbox, and PC, with the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition arriving on October 29, 2026.
