The new Warlock class is coming to Diablo 4 – and Diablo 2 Resurrected, and Immortal

It seems the leaks were true, and Diablo 4 is indeed getting a new Warlock class (alongside the Paladin) as part of its Lord of Hatred expansion that’s due for release on April 28, 2026. This was confirmed during Blizzard’s Diablo 30th Anniversary Spotlight show.

But that’s not all, the Warlock class is also coming to Diablo 2 Resurrected in an update called “Reign of the Warlock,” which is free and available to download now.

While technically, Diablo 2 Resurrected is the 2021 remaster of Diablo 2, it’s still the first new class to be added to the game in over 25 years, which is staggering.

While the Warlock class was rumored to be coming to Diablo 4 with The Lord of Hatred, absolutely nobody predicted the class would be coming to Diablo 2.

Welcome the Warlock

As for Diablo Immortal, the class will arrive for the game sometime in the summer, with no official release date being given during the 30th Anniversary Spotlight.

The Warlock class will be a battlemage/summoner hybrid character, and players will have the ability to be melee or magic-focused, but will also be able to summon demons to fight alongside them. The class will have the ability to “bind demons” to fight alongside you, or to devour them and use their power in other ways. 

Not being seen in a Diablo game before, the Warlock will be a brand new character class, but it looks like a cross between older ones, such as the Necromancer and Sorcerer.

The class will differ depending on the game, so the Diablo 2 version of the Warlock won’t be the same as the Diablo 4 version. But it will still be fun to explore the class across different games and discover the best builds for the Warlock based on the various playstyles.
